Ali Barbara

Job Titles:
  • Practice Manager
Ali has worked at Dunedin North Medical Centre as the Practice Manager since 2005. Before joining our team Ali worked as a police officer, motelier and an aviation security officer. Ali thrives on the challenges of being practice manager in a busy medical centre and keeping everything running smoothly. Ali completed a Diploma in Business Administration from the Manukau Institute of Technology in December 2011 after 5 years of distance study. Outside of work Ali enjoys the fun and challenge of running the hills and trails around the city as she trains for ultra trail marathon races around the country. Catching up with grandchildren is also a priority but not so easy when they live elsewhere.

Doctor Claire Handley

Claire is originally from Chester in the United Kingdom. She graduated from the University of Bristol in 2008 and spent her first years as a junior doctor working in the South West of the UK before moving to New Zealand in 2010. Claire spent most of her career working as a medical registrar in Invercargill and Dunedin, taking some time off to have children. She changed to general practice in 2021 to pursue a more family orientated career. Claire lives with her husband and three children on a lifestyle block along with their alpaca and chickens. She also enjoys cooking, gardening and crafts when she's not busy with work and her children.

Doctor Oriagh Fox

Oriagh grew up in Waimate, South Canterbury. She moved to Dunedin to complete her Medical degree at the University of Otago. After graduating she worked in Dunedin hospital for 4 years before starting her specialty GP training. Oriagh enjoys the variety of general practice and has completed a post graduate diploma in children's health and a certificate in women's health. When she isn't at work Oriagh enjoys spending time with her husband, daughter and two dogs exploring the Waitaki Valley, swimming, walking and biking.

Doctor Victoria Taylor

Victoria was born in Dunedin and graduated from medical school here in 2009. She worked in hospitals in Wellington, Auckland, and Dunedin, including four years as a specialist obstetrics registrar training in women's health, before switching to general practice for greater continuity of care. She really enjoys meeting a whole range of people of different ages and stages. Victoria aims to listen well, keep up to date with guidelines and provide respectful care in partnership with you. Victoria also works as a Senior Lecturer for the University of Otago Women's Health Department and has a special interest in women's health problems. She is happy to see you with any concerns you may have about heavy or irregular bleeding, contraception, menopause, pelvic organ prolapse, or incontinence, and is able to insert intrauterine contraceptive devices, Jadelle subdermal implants or vaginal pessaries. In her spare time, she mainly runs around after her three children but also loves reading, drinking tea and creative writing.

Russell Hurring

When not helping in the reception team Russell can be found ‘out the back' working on the many administrative tasks that are necessary in a busy practice.

Theresa Hurring

Our registered nurses Theresa, Lynette, Martina, Anna, Sumaya and Holly, and enrolled nurse Debbie are an important part of the team at Dunedin North Medical Centre. With a great wealth of knowledge and experience between them they provide invaluable support to our doctors and patients. They work on an appointment schedule like our doctors and can also be contacted by phone.
