Christopher J. Turner

Dr. Christopher Turner joined Eyesight in 2004. In addition to primary care optometry, Dr. Turner also specializes in pre-operative and post-operative refractive care for LASIK, PRK, Bladefree LASIK and the Visian ICL (Implantable Contact Lens) at Eyesight's sister company, Clear Advantage Vision Correction Center. He also provides low-vision care for the visually impaired. Dr.'s Turner, McLoughlin and Lynch received specialized training at Dry Eye University for the care and treatment of ocular surface disease and dry eye management. All 3 of our doctors are using the most advanced technology and therapeutic methods available for the management of dry eyes. Our doctors use a "personalized" approach to treatment and understand that dry eye disease is a complex and multifactorial condition that requires not only treating the disease, but remedying the underlying factors causing the condition. Dr. Turner provides Dry Eye treatments at our Exeter office. Dr. Turner and wife Jeanine, also a practicing optometrist, reside in Exeter, NH with their two children.

Dr. Dwight Arvidson

Dr. Dwight Arvidson joined Eyesight after spending many years as the Sole Proprietor at Eye Contact Unlimited in Portsmouth, where he specialized in primary eyecare, routine ocular disease management and difficult contact lens fits. Dr. Arvidson brings a substantial amount of primary eyecare to the patients at Eyesight in both our Portsmouth and Somersworth location. He also has extensive experience in pre-operative and post operative refractive care and shares his time working with Eyesight's sister company, Clear Advantage Vision Correction Center offering follow up care for LASIK, PRK, Crosslinking and EVO ICL (implantable collamer lens) patients. Dr. Janet Rand

Dr. Janet Rand graduated as the valedictorian from the New England College of Optometry in 1998. She then completed a cornea/contact lens residency in 1999 where she did rotations at the Massachusetts Eye & Ear Infirmary, Boston Foundation for Sight and Cornea Consultants. She also worked with Cornea Consultants from 2000-2006 as a contact lens specialist. Dr. Rand joined Eyesight in May, 2005. She practiced at a cornea specialty practice in Boston for 6 years before joining Eyesight and enjoys her specialty in contact lenses-including cornea and external disease as well as complicated contact lens fits. Dr. Rand takes a holistic approach in the prevention of eye disease, and is devoted to finding the vision correction option that best fits each individual lifestyle. Dr. Rand is a contact lens specialist for hard to fit contact lenses including medical contact lenses and scleral lenses for corneal transplants and keratoconus. Dr. Rand resides in Massachusetts with her two children and two black labs. In her leisure time she enjoys windsurfing and hiking.

Dr. N. Timothy Peters

Dr. Peters is a fellowship trained cornea specialist and one of the most experienced LASIK surgeons in New England, having performed over 30,000 LASIK procedures. Because of his broad experience, Dr. Peters has been selected to be a clinical trainer and proctor for other refractive surgeons, nationwide. Dr. Peters also specializes in premium cataract surgery and performed the first Crystalens implant and the first Symfony implant in the state of New Hampshire. Dr. Goldblatt and Dr. N. Timothy Peters were one of the first surgeons in New England to perform Glaukos iStent surgery on glaucoma patients during cataract procedures. For patients with combined cataract and open-angle glaucoma, iStent reduces intraocular pressure (IOP) by improving aqueous humor outflow. Inserted through a 1.5-mm corneal incision, iStent is the first FDA-approved device for the treatment of mild to moderate open-angle glaucoma. Since 2005, Dr. Peters has been a principle investigator for numerous ophthalmic and refractive clinical research trials of all phases to help assist in the research and delivery of new ocular therapies and ocular devices.

Dr. Pamela Schultze

Warren Goldblatt, MD has been taking care of people in the New Hampshire Seacoast and surrounding areas since 1995. After graduating from Cornell University with distinction, he attended New York University Medical School. Deciding to focus his career in eye surgery, he completed his ophthalmic residency at the prestigious L.S.U. Eye center in New Orleans under the instruction of Herbert Kaufman, MD and Marguerite McDonald,MD, both nationally and internationally recognized leaders in eye surgery. Board Certified with the American Board of Ophthalmology, he is a member of both the American Academy of Ophthalmology as well as the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery. He has a strong interest in refractive cataract surgery, specializing in maximizing glasses independence after surgery. Having extensive experience in this area, he has been implanting specialized premium intraocular lenses since 2005 and was the first surgeon in New Hampshire to implant the Symfony Multifocal lens, which reduces or eliminates the need for glasses at all ranges. Dr. Goldblatt also has a passion for dancing Argentine Tango where he and his wife have been asked to do showcase dances throughout New Hampshire. Dr. Renee Lynch

Dr. Renee Lynch practices primary care optometry at Eyesight Ophthalmic Services in the Exeter and Portsmouth locations. She has a focus in ocular surface diseases, such as dry eye, and treats moderate to advanced cases in her Ocular Surface Wellness clinic in the Exeter and Portsmouth offices. She received a Bachelor of Arts at Rutgers University in New Jersey. She received her optometric doctorate from the New England College of Optometry in Boston. She completed a residency in primary eye care and ocular disease at the Brockton VA Medical Center. Her clinical refractive experience includes pre and post-operative care for PRK, Bladefree LASIK, and EVO Visian ICL (Implantable Collamer Lens) through Eyesight's sister company, Clear Advantage Vision Correction Center. She enjoys traveling, camping and hiking with her husband, Patrick.

Hilary A. Hamer

Dr. Hamer provides primary eye care to patients for the Somersworth office. She joined Eyesight from the Lowell Community Health Center in Massachusetts where she cared for a diverse patient group in a multidisciplinary setting. She returns to her home state of NH after studying and working in the Boston area for several years and maintains an ongoing interest in research and STEM education. In 2019, Dr. Hamer completed the requirements for Fellowship in the American Academy of Optometry and remains an active member of both the Academy and American Optometric Association. Education: Doctor of Optometry, Salutatorian, Master of Vision Science, New England College of Optometry, Boston, MA. Jennifer Ling

Job Titles:

Dr. Ling is a fellowship trained specialist in Cornea and External Diseases. She specializes in cutting-edge partial-thickness (DMEK, DSAEK) and full-thickness cornea transplants (PKP) and premium cataract surgery. She also treats Fuchs dystrophy, keratoconus (including collagen cross-linking), infectious corneal ulcers, dry eye syndrome, and neurotrophic keratitis. Through Clear Advantage Vision Correction Center, Dr. Ling also performs EVO ICL (implantable collamer lenses), bladefree LASIK, and PRK. She is proud to have helped train the next generation of ophthalmologists, and was humbled to have received the Award for Excellence in Resident Teaching at the University of Michigan, as well as the Faculty Teaching Award at the University of Iowa, for these efforts. Prior to joining Eyesight Ophthalmic Services and Clear Advantage Vision Correction Center, Dr. Ling was a faculty member at the renowned University of Iowa, ranked #7 nationally in the field of ophthalmology. Being at a tertiary referral center allowed her to gain experience managing the most complex ocular conditions. She is proud to have helped train the next generation of ophthalmologists. She is now happy to be relocating to New England for family reasons. In her spare time, Dr. Ling enjoys spending time with her husband and 1-year-old daughter. They love to eat, hike, and go whale watching.

Lauren K. McLoughlin

Dr. Lauren McLoughlin grew up in Brooklyn, NY and graduated from Brooklyn College in 1992 magna cum laude with a Bachelor of Science degree. After graduating from SUNY College of Optometry in 1997, Dr. McLoughlin completed her residency in ocular disease and primary care at the VA Medical Center in Wilmington, Delaware in 1998. Dr. McLoughlin has been with Eyesight for over 16 years and specializes not only in ocular surface wellness, but also in routine eyecare, glaucoma, and pre/post-operative refractive surgery at our sister company, Clear Advantage Vision Correction Center. Dr. McLoughlin received specialized training at Dry Eye University for the care and treatment of ocular surface disease and dry eye management. She is also served as a clinical investigator for many dry eye studies and is also a subject matter expert, speaker and author for various dry eye organizations such including Johnson & Johnson, Sight Science and Dompé. She uses only the most advanced technology and therapeutic methods available for the management of dry eyes. As opposed to traditional dry eye clinics, Dr. Mcloughlin uses a "personalized" approach to treatment. Dry eye is a complex and multifactorial condition that requires not only treating the disease, but remedying the underlying factors causing the condition. Dr. McLoughlin provides Dry Eye treatments at our Somersworth and Portsmouth offices including Oxervate, TearCare and IPL (intense pulse laser) treatments. Dr. McLoughlin also specializes in pre-operative and post-operative refractive care at Eyesight's sister company, Clear Advantage Vision Correction Center. Her refractive experience includes pre and post-operative care for LASIK, PRK, Bladefree LASIK, and EVO ICL (Implantable Collamer Lens). Dr. McLoughlin has also practiced in a variety of optometric and ophthalmic settings and has owned two optometric practices in New Hampshire and Massachusetts. Dr. McLoughlin lives in Durham, NH with her husband, who also owns two optometric practices in Newburport MA and Newmarket, NH.

Lucian Szmyd

Lucian Szmyd, Jr., M.D. joined Eyesight in 1986. Dr. Szmyd resides in Rye, N.H. with his wife and two sons. In his leisure time he enjoys skiing, golfing, tennis, boating, reading and spending time with his family.

Marsha C. Kavanagh

Job Titles:
  • Specialist in Oculoplastic Surgery
Dr. Kavanagh is a fellowship trained specialist in Oculoplastic Surgery. She enjoys the diversity of her subspecialty which includes cosmetic and reconstructive surgery of the eyelids, eyebrows, and midface, as well as treatment of tearing problems, thyroid disease, eyelid and orbital tumors and facial trauma. Since completion of Ophthalmology training in 2005, she was accepted to one of the few fellowships recognized by the American Society of Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive surgery. This organization recognizes less than 15 physicians nationwide each year for training in this highly specialized field. She spent an additional two years training as a specialist in Oculoplastic Surgery, and during this time period alone, she participated in over 3,000 procedures. She has published numerous articles and contributed to a number of chapters in ophthalmic textbooks. She was previously on faculty at Ohio State University and UCSF where she was nominated for several teaching awards and received the Kimura Award for excellence in resident teaching. In her leisure time, Dr. Kavanagh enjoys hiking, skiing, running, playing the piano, and spending time with her family. Both Dr. Kavanagh and Dr. Warren Goldblatt were nominated as the "Top Doctor" by NH Magazine in 2019. This is their 3rd straight year of being nominated in their specialty!

Nathaniel Sears

Dr. Sears is a board-certified ophthalmologist and glaucoma specialist and graduated with a degree in chemistry from Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio. He completed his residency in ophthalmology at Cole Eye Institute in Cleveland, O.H. followed by a Glaucoma fellowship at Jules Stein Eye institute at UCLA. Dr. Sears worked as an Assistant Professor of Ophthalmology and as Medical Director in the Perimetry Lab at the University of Iowa from 2017 before joining Eyesight in July 2024. Dr. Sears specializes in the medical and surgical management of glaucoma including minimally invasive glaucoma surgery (MIGS), small incision routine and complex cataract surgery, and external diseases of the eye. He is a member of the American College of Physicians, the American Glaucoma Society (AGS) , the Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology and is the Editor of the Glaucoma section for Nature Publishing Group. Dr. Sears' interests outside of work include playing guitar, skiing, mountain biking and spending time with his family of four.

Timothy W. Sullivan

Dr. Sullivan is a board certified ophthalmologist and glaucoma specialist and graduated magna cum laude with a degree in chemistry from Darmouth College. After graduating from University of Michigan Medical School, he completed his residency in ophthalmology at New York Eye and Ear Infirmary followed by a fellowship at Wills Eye Hospital in Philadelphia, PA. Dr. Sullivan has extensive experience in community service and volunteerism with in his local communities. He also is actively involved in clinical research where his articles and findings have been published in various journals and presented at multiple Ophthalmology meetings. Dr. Sullivan specializes in the medical and surgical management of glaucoma including minimally invasive glaucoma surgery (MIGS), small incision routine and complex cataract surgery, and external diseases of the eye. He is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology (AAO), the American Glaucoma Society (AGS) , the New England Ophthalmology Society (NEOS) and the NH Medical Society. In an effort to better serve the need for ophthalmic care in the White Mountains region, Dr. Sullivan performs cataract procedures at Androscoggin Valley Hospital in Berlin, NH once a month. Appointments to see Dr. Sullivan in the White Mountain area can be done by calling the Berlin New Hampshire office at Coos Eye Care and in North Conway at Conway Eye Care. In his leisure time, Dr. Sullivan enjoys cooking, hiking, skiing and playing tennis.
