Jim Butler most recently served as Chief Technology Officer of HqO, Inc., the leading employee experience platform for commercial office buildings. Prior to HqO, Jim served as Chief Technology Officer, Global Supply Platforms for Verizon Media and as Co-Chair of the IAB/OpenRTB standards body for real-time digital media commerce. In the years leading up to the merger, Jim was CTO of Nexage, the premier real-time mobile media exchange. Nexage was acquired by Millennial Media in 2014, which was then acquired by AOL where he served as VP of Engineering of Publisher Platforms. Prior to Nexage, Jim was CTO of matchmine, a media discovery network, and before that the CTO of eCredit, a B2B credit decisioning platform later acquired by Fidelity Ventures. Jim has held Chief Architect positions at EC Cubed and American Management Systems as well as various architecture, engineering, and consulting roles at Pioneer Investments, JP Morgan Chase, CapitalOne, Ameritech, Royal Bank of Canada, Boston Consulting Group, BAE Systems, and Raytheon Company. Since 2002, Jim has served as the founding Chairman of the Technology Leadership Council, Boston Chapter. He is the author of the 2003 book "Technology Blueprints: Technology Foundations for High Performance Companies" along with numerous technical publications in IEEE, ACM, and other journals and conferences, as well as three granted patents in the areas of digital media and reliable web service architecture. Jim holds a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from the University of Maryland, a Masters in Computer Systems Engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, and a BSEE Magna Cum Laude from the University of Lowell.
