Helen Gaunt

Job Titles:
  • Founder of Hooves
Helen is also the founder of Hooves on the Hill and assisted with the transformation. Helen has always been a lover of horses since she was a child and has enjoyed being in there presence. Having had two hip replacements Helen is now on her way to getting back on a horse to continue her passion for riding. Helen is best known for making the big spread of food whilst we are away at competitions and also for being in charge of Millie, the dog.

Jane Harwood

Job Titles:
  • Manager
Jane is the yard manager here at Hooves on the Hill and is in charge of maintaining the horses welfare. Jane organises the farrier, dentist, vet visits and ensures the horses are up to date with vaccinations and worming. Jane also grooms for Team Hooves whilst away competing at weekends and ensures the horses are fit and prepared for competions. Janes qualifications and wide range of skills including exercising and schooling horses, clipping, mucking out and competition preparation enables the running of Team Hooves to be possible.

Lauren Gaunt

Job Titles:
  • Staff Member
Lauren started riding at the age of 6 at Yvonne Lowthers in Sicklinghall where she had a lesson every sunday morning. This soon progressed to every Saturday and Sunday morning. At the age of 10, her parents, Roger and Helen allowed Lauren to get her own pony - Jerry. Since that day Lauren has spent all the time she can up riding her horses. Lauren now has two horses that she competes internationally at CCI1* level. Laurens biggest acheivments include 18th place at the CIC* event at Chatsworth Horse Trials riding Bazaars Grafittii, 9th place at Aske Horse Trials and competing in the CCIJ* National Championships at Frickley Park again riding Bazaars Grafitti.

Roger Gaunt

Roger is the founder of Hooves on the Hill and has transformed the once fields, into a prime equestrian area. Roger started riding about 12 years ago, when he could no longer stand watching his daughter have lessons at Sicklinghall every weekend. Since then, Roger's riding has progreessed up the levels and he now currently has two horses, Joe and Apollo that he competes at BE90/100 regularly at weekends. Whilst not out competing at the weekends, Roger enjoys a days hunting on his trusty steed Apollo, who has been with Roger since 2011. Rogers aims and ambitious are to progress up the eventing ladder and to one day beat his daughter Lauren!
