Adams has worked with students at institutions across the country. Most recently, Adams has served as program manager for the Tulsa Community WorkAdvance, an organization that provides upskilling, certifications, and technical trainings to help individuals secure quality employment. Adams served as Dean of Student Affairs at the Tulsa Community College West Campus (2019-2021), Director of Student Life at the Tulsa Community College Metro/Downtown Campus (2015-2019), Director of Student Involvement and Leadership at the University of North Dakota (2014-2015), and Assistant Director for Campus Activities at Pittsburg State University (2009-2014).

Adams received his Master of Arts in Education Administration and Leadership from the University of the Pacific in 2007. He graduated from California State University, San Bernardino with a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology in 2003.

Dr. Cynthia Sherwood has been practicing dentistry in the area for over 30 years. She received a degree in dental hygiene from Wichita State University before graduating from the University of Missouri-Kansas City. Known as "Doctor Cindi" to her patients, she is an Independence native. She has been married to Byrle, an architect, for over 39 years. They have three children: Eli, Audrey and Daniel. Eli, and his wife Niki, presented them with a granddaughter, London. When Dr. Sherwood isn't working she loves to read, travel and follow the Kansas Jayhawks.

Dr. Jonathan Sadhoo is an experienced higher education leader that has served ICC as the Vice President for Administration & Finance and Chief Financial Officer since 2019. With over ten years of experience in various finance and operations roles in higher education, Dr. Sadhoo brings a unique knowledge base and skillset to the institution. Dr. Sadhoo has lived throughout the United States and abroad, which allows him to bring a high degree of diversity and vibrant perspective to the college. He takes pride in investing in our students, staff, faculty, and community.
Dr. Sadhoo currently oversees Athletics, Business Office, Campus Housing, Campus Store, Commercial/Business Legal Counsel, Food Service, Information Technology, Physical Facilities and Maintenance, Risk Management and Commercial Liability, Student Financial Aid, and serves as the College Treasurer.
Dr. Sadhoo earned an International Baccalaureate Diploma from the École Internationale de Nice (Nice, Côte d'Azur, France), Bachelor of Science in Business and Leadership, with a focus in Finance & Accounting, from Northeastern University (Boston, MA), Master of Education in Higher Education Administration from Northeastern University (Boston, MA), and Doctor of Education in Higher Education Policy and Leadership from the University of New England (Biddeford, ME).

Dr. Vincent Bowhay became the sixteenth president of Independence Community College on April 9, 2021. He leads an extraordinary team dedicated to student success during a time of great transition. Bowhay has more than a decade of experience in higher education and assessment consultation. Since arriving at ICC as vice president for student affairs in 2019, Bowhay has led the institution's response to the COVID-19 pandemic, while also realigning the institution for success in its second century.
Bowhay's career has involved work in the public and private sectors. As an assessment, strategic planning, and accreditation consultant at Campus Labs in Buffalo, New York, Bowhay was recognized as a highly effective and innovative leader, positioning campuses for data-driven success. Prior to joining ICC, he also served in student affairs roles at Missouri Western State University and Fort Hays State University.
He is active in educational, civic, and charitable organizations. Much of his passion is focused on promoting affordable access to education, helping veterans achieve academic and career success, and encouraging civic engagement among college students. His most recent book, "The Proper Role of Higher Education in a Democratic Society," reexamines the role higher education plays in preparing students for a life of civic engagement and community leadership. Bowhay is an active volunteer for the Sigma Phi Epsilon fraternity and other values-based organizations.
Bowhay was one of 25 presidents nationwide to be selected for the highly competitive Aspen New Presidents Fellowship from the Aspen Institute in 2021. Bowhay is a Gallup-Certified Strengths Coach with experience in career transition and executive coaching. He earned his B.A. in English literature from Washburn University; an M.A. in student affairs administration in higher education from Ball State University; and an Ed.D. in educational leadership from Baker University.

Laura Allison has worked at Independence Community College as the Director of Financial Aid since 2016. Laura is a Certified Financial Aid Administrator (FAAC®). As Director of Financial Aid, she is responsible for the proper and equitable administration of Title IV Federal Student Aid, institutional aid and outside aid. In addition to overseeing all student aid, she is accountable to ICC and its students in ensuring the Office of Student Financial Aid provides excellent service to its students, staff and community.
Laura received her Juris Doctor from Washburn University School of Law in 2012, graduating with special certification in Trial Advocacy. She graduated from The University of Kansas with a Bachelor of Science in Accounting in 2009. Prior to working in Higher Education, she practiced law in the State of Kansas, working in general private practice.

Lori Boots has been part of the Pirate Family since 2019 and is responsible for providing strategic guidance and leadership for the human resources function including core human capital programs, policies, and procedures including recruitment, talent acquisition, talent management, benefit administration, employee relations, compensation, payroll, performance management, professional development, and diversity.
Before pursuing her employment in education, Boots served over thirty years in senior-level Human Resources positions for manufacturing companies and the logistics division of Walmart Stores, Inc. In these roles, Boots successfully partnered with organizational leadership to plan, develop, and execute numerous HR platforms, programs, policies, and procedures.
Boots is a native of the Independence area and earned her bachelor's degree in business administration from the University of Kansas.

Snyder graduated from Arkansas State University and obtained her law degree from the University of Tulsa. After retiring from practice after three decades, she spent six years with The Nature Conservancy in Florida. She moved to Independence in April of 2021 because it was her ancestral home, and with several generations of her family born and raised here, she has a deep connection to the area.
She currently serves as a Board member for the Independence Historical Museum and Art Center. She is active in the Independence Garden Club, Women for Kansas, and a regular book club.

Tamara Blaes is our Rural Postsecondary & Economic Development Grant Director. She has been a Business & Computer Technology professor at Independence Community College for the past 13 years. She holds a bachelor's and a master's degree in Business Education from Emporia State University. Along with teaching at ICC, Blaes has maintained a web design business in which she volunteers her knowledge in website building with many friends and relatives. She plans to continue to teach a few classes online for ICC in the Business and Computer areas. Blaes is married to her husband, Jim, and they live on 15 acres in Cherryvale full of blueberry, raspberry, and blackberry bushes, cherry, apple, pear, plum, and many nut trees. They have two Dachshunds, Scooter & Nala, a German Shepherd Dog, Darby, and two cats, Mufasa and Holly Belle. Blaes and her husband both attended Cherryvale High School and ICC. Blaes also has a son, Riley, who attended Cherryvale High School, ICC, and Washburn University where he graduated with a Psychology degree and two minors in Communication and Marketing. Blaes' parents as well as her mother-in-law all live in Cherryvale. Tamara loves to quilt in her spare time.

Taylor Crawshaw began her career at Independence Community College in August of 2014 and currently serves as the Vice President for Academic Affairs. In her current role, Taylor has the honor of working with faculty and academic support staff to increase student success in and out of the classroom, support individual faculty pedagogy, and work with industry partners to improve economic development.
Taylor graduated from Missouri State University in 2010 with a degree in Psychology and a minor in Child and Family Development. Her profession in community college education began at Coffeyville Community College as the Native American Leadership coach - recruiting Native American students and creating leadership and community service curriculum for those students. She graduated from Pittsburg State University in 2014 with a M.S. in Educational Leadership.
Taylor is a graduate of Leadership Kansas Farm Bureau, has served on the Wilson County Farm Bureau Board of Directors as President and Vice-President. In 2021, Taylor was appointed to serve on the Kansas Farm Bureau State Committee for Young Farmers and Ranchers. Taylor also serves on the Altoona Public Library Board.
