Chris Bean leads the Geophysics Section at DIAS. His own research group's primary areas of interest have been volcano seismology and deep water ocean-land coupling, as evidenced through microseisms. More recent group interests include induced microseismicity in geothermal fields and environmental seismology. The work spans numerical, laboratory and field applications, and is funded in the main by the European Commission, Science Foundation Ireland, Geological Survey Ireland and some industry collaborations. He has also led the development of large scale national geophysical infrastructure, particularly in the marine environment. Chris has a keen interest in public engagement, including arts-science collaborations, primarily in Europe.
Clara Gómez García is a PhD researcher in the iCRAG raw materials research spoke. Clara graduated with a BSc in Physics in 2012 and with a MSc in Geophysics and Meteorology in 2013 from Complutense University of Madrid. From 2014 to 2016, she worked in the frame of the Repsol CO-DOS project at Institute of Earth Sciences Jaume Almera (ICTJA-CSIC) in Barcelona, before joining DIAS in 2017 under the supervision of Dr Sergei Lebedev. Her research investigates seismic imaging with high-frequency waveform techniques. The objective is to develop and apply new passive-imaging methods applicable at scales from tens of meters to kilometres (deposit scale to lithospheric scale).

Biographical Sketch: Colin Hogg graduated from UCD in 2004 after studying geophysics and continued in UCD until 2006 for post-graduate research in environmental physics. Following that he completed a Post-Graduate Diploma in Education (Maths, Science and Physics) at Maynooth University. During these years several internships brought him to Scripps Institution of Oceanography. In 2007, Colin joined the Geophysics Section of DIAS where he has been involved in research projects that have led him to work from Southern Africa to the Arctic and plenty of places in between.
