Kidney cancer (renal cell carcinoma) is one of the most commonly diagnosed cancers and is responsible for 3-5% of all new cancer diagnosis in the United States. The incidence of renal cell carcinoma has been steadily increasing for the past 40 years. Renal cell carcinoma represents a clinical challenge as it includes several distinct tumor types, including clear cell, papillary, chromophobe, collecting duct, and unclassified. Each subtype demonstrates unique clinical behavior and responds to different treatments. Given this heterogeneity, there is a need for innovative and collaborative research efforts to further our understanding of the disease.
