Known as the longest standing gun shop in Durban, Kings has been around for over 130 years. This was before the First Anglo-Boer War - and around the time that 50,000 diamond diggers were trying their luck in South Africa. Started by the Kings family in 1873, the shop operated right throughout the gold rush, major political upheaval over several years, and even saw a few wars. Passed from generation to generation, Kings remained a successful family business and in later years Doug Kirton and his family bought the shop.
