Family, tradition and food were the focal point of my large family in Beirut, Lebanon where I grew up. Many hours were spent in the kitchen at my mother's side, watching, learning and assisting her in making traditional Middle Eastern foods and other family favorites. Although I did not do any actual cooking until getting married, it is amazing how much was learned from my mother during my early years in the kitchen with her... Once I started cooking and baking on my own, trying new recipes and tasting new dishes has been a continuous and pleasurable process.
