Hiroshi Hori is one of the founding partner of Marunouchi Kokusai Law Office ("MKLO"). Hiroshi is qualified to practice law in both Japan and the United States (New York). He specializes in financial regulations including securities regulations, asset management regulations and banking regulations, and financial transactions including securitization, real estate financing and investment funds. Prior to launching MKLO in 2012, Hiroshi worked at Nishimura & Asahi, advising a wide variety of foreign and domestic financial institutions and other clients on negotiations with financial authorities and providing counseling on compliance with relevant regulations applicable to the financial transactions or financial institutions. In addition, Hiroshi has extensive experience structuring transactions as well as drafting transaction documents (in both English and Japanese), including asset purchase agreements, loan agreements and bond documents. During his career at Nishimura & Asahi, he was seconded to the position of deputy director at the Japanese Financial Services Agency (FSA) from 2005 to 2007. While Hiroshi was working at the FSA, he served on the team that reformed the Japanese securities law into the new Financial Instruments and Exchange Act of 2006 and drafted the relevant government ordinances and regulations in 2007.

Issei TANAKA started his legal career at a major electric power company as in-house counsel. After serving as an in-house counsel for around one and a half years, he joined Marunouchi International Law Office.

Shu TANAKA

Shu TANAKA is primarily engaged in practices relating to structured financing transactions such as scheme origination, documentation, and advice on monitoring, collection and enforcement. He also has a wide range of experience in the area of dispute resolution including litigation involving finance transactions, M&As and labor issues.

Taku ISHIZU

Taku Ishizu is one of the founding partners in Marunouchi Kokusai Law Office. He focuses his practice on capital markets, asset management, acquisition finance and banking. His securities practice covers IPOs and other offerings of equity and fixed-income securities in overseas and domestic capital markets, and he is active in advising private and public companies and securities firms on equity and debt financings. He also has extensive experience ranging from traditional asset management to alternative investments. Taku acts in a wide range of matters in relation to fund formation, fundraising, operations, governance and organizational structure for the sponsors of private equity funds including buyout funds and venture capital funds. He actively provides banks, financial institutions and borrowers with advice on syndicated loans and acquisitions and leveraged financing. In addition, for operating companies, he handles start-up matters, general business and strategic contracting, governance, merger and acquisition activities, and general day-to-day legal matters.
