Founder Christian Lofton, also passionate about renewable energy, and also a returned Peace Corps Volunteer, has been working full time in the industry since 2008. He began with a biodiesel project in Jamaica and has since installed solar thermal, wind, and solar electric systems in Michigan, Texas, Oklahoma, Louisiana, North Carolina, and South Carolina. His work includes the largest solar thermal installation in Michigan consisting of 200 AET 4'x10' Solar thermal collectors, installations with the US Navy, Veterans Administration, Houston, TX Permitting Building, Fort Worth, TX Zoo, Dallas Cowboy Hall of Fame, and many others. He is most proud of his work with Habitat for Humanity. With integrity and the highest professional standards, he has applied himself and earned the NABCEP PV INSTALLERS Certification, AET Solar Thermal Certification, North Carolina Electrical Contractors License, OSHA 30 hour construction safety instruction, and OSHA train the trainer instruction. He believes that every job should be approached with the highest standards of safety and quality possible.
Christian Lofton and his business partner, Jeff Redwine, are co-owners of RED Group. With over 600 solar panel projects under the group's belt, Christian has learned what needs to be done to exceed client expectations and deliver ROI on solar energy projects.
Founders Cynthia Redwine's first solar energy project was working as a Peace Corp volunteer with a dedicated group of community members and her husband, Jeff, to bring clean, reliable, and affordable energy to the school, communal house, cooperative office, and every hut in Parara Puru, Panama. Cynthia utilizes her MBA to lead financial and strategic planning for RED Group. She's excited her 2 daughters can see a working solar array on their own rooftop!

Jeff Redwine graduated with a business degree from the University of Texas in Arlington, and has worked to promote clean energy systems in various states and countries. Jeff's first solar project was on 22 off-grid huts in the rain forest of Panama as a Peace Corps Volunteer and he has been working in North Carolina and Texas in the renewable energy industry since 2005. As a co-owner and co-founder of Renewable Energy Design Group, l3c (RED Group) he works to integrate clean technologies at the residential and commercial level.
Melvin began his solar career by volunteering during the Solarize Charlotte campaign in 2014, were he met the RED Group leaders Christian, Jeff, and Cynthia. Melvin's interest began in sustainable energy as co-founder and co-owner of Metrolina BioFuels in 2006: helping educate, advocate, and bring clean and domestically produced fuel options to the Charlotte Metro area. Melvin is a "local;" he grew up just a few minutes south of Charlotte in Lancaster, SC. After attending the University of South Carolina for Business Management he started his career in retail for 20 years as a Store Manager and District Manager for a retail pharmacy in the Carolinas. During this time, his interest grew in the sustainable energy. He enrolled and finished his AAS in Sustainability Technologies in Alternative Energy in 2015 while earning his NABCEP Photovoltaic Entry Level Certification. Currently he serves on the Keep Charlotte Beautiful Board and volunteers with the Waste Management Advisory Board, Catawba River Keepers Foundation, Sustain Charlotte, and Green Peace of Charlotte.
Melvin Jewett helps the RED Group team install solar panels and educate NC residents and business owners on the benefits of solar energy.
