Resilient Societies was founded by Steve Mott, an engineer, and Thomas Popik, an entrepreneur and concerned citizen. Both attended the 2010 "In The Dark" conference held at the U.S. Army War College in Carlisle, Pennsylvania. Over dinner, Steve and Tom decided to collaborate on protecting U.S. critical infrastructure, including the electric grid. They recruited an initial board consisting of themselves plus William Harris, George Baker, and Matthew Stein. The board was soon supplemented by Ambassador Henry Cooper, a noted expert on strategic defense, and William Graham, former chair of the Congressional Electromagnetic Pulse Commission... While Resilient Societies does not lobby for specific legislation, we provide policy advice to legislative bodies on realizable and cost-effective infrastructure protections.
