Darrell Oakley - Managing Director

Darrell has worked internationally (in a variety of capacities) with numerous public and private, academic and commercial organisations on diverse matters related to people in the workplace. Darrell has extensive experience in advising senior management on the design, implementation and evaluation of diverse strategic Human Resource processes and systems. His areas of speciality include: the assessment and development of human potential where he has focussed extensively on the assessment of management ability and potential of senior (executive level) individuals. He has been involved in many structural and cultural strategic projects including the development and alignment of talent management approaches and recruitment and retention strategies to drive business results. Darrell has been actively involved with coaching, advising and assisting senior executives enhance their leadership and consequently both the satisfaction and motivation of their staff members while at the same time focussing on improvement with respect to performance, productivity and profitability. He has 25 years' experience as both an advisor and facilitator, at various levels within organisations. He has been actively involved in the development and delivery of bespoke development interventions which seek to enhance the capability of people to deliver. Darrell's clients over the last 20 years have included clients from a broad range of sectors including; the financial services, manufacturing, academic, arts and media, technology, retail, restaurant and hospitality sector and the consulting sector.

Howard Smith

Miv has been involved in the field of Development Training since 1988, the last 10 years as a freelance facilitator. Being very empathetic, his most enjoyable work is with small teams and individuals helping them understand and appreciate their strengths and how to identify and manage any weaknesses. Miv is a strong believer in the use of Experiential Learning, using tasks and simulations to gather evidence to support reviews, feedback and practical action planning for the work place. He has been described as, easy going, supportive, conscientious and has an excruciating eye for detail, luckily tempered by a sharp sense of humour. Miv has a background in Outdoor Pursuits and is able to use simulations and scenarios in this learning environment to powerful effect.

Mary Kirman

After obtaining a first class honours degree in Classical Studies, Mary Kirman decided to pursue a career in hospitality, obtaining a postgraduate diploma in Hotel and Catering Administration. After initially gaining valuable experience in food and beverage management, she then progressed into the HR and training function, gaining a further postgraduate qualification and membership of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development. Mary has worked extensively in the leisure and retail sectors before establishing herself as an independent consultant, focussed on improving people management skills and systems. Her generalist human resources background enables Mary to analyse and report on the people element of business processes and combines with an innovative but practical approach to designing and delivering training solutions.

Tina Jones

Tina held a variety of training positions for Trusthouse Forte for six years before becoming Group Training Manager for Commonwealth Holiday Inns of Canada. Her positions have involved her playing a large part in maintaining operational standards and the setting of image and customer care standards. Tina has also carried out a number of key HR assignments as an independent consultant, including maternity cover for an HR Director of a major restaurant chain. Tina's area of specialism includes the design and delivery of managerial soft skills training including presentation, facilitation, negotiation, interpersonal and customer service skills. She is also heavily involved in life coaching and counselling, and often coaches and provides counselling to individuals on a 1:1 basis on both personal and business related issues.
