Randi Whitney, owner of Strawberry Fields, began teaching in 1995 and through the years taught Kindergarten, 3 rd, 4 th, and 5 th Grades. During this time, she realized that her fellow teachers and students were in need of a better way to teach Reading and Writing concepts, so she opened The Writing Academy (renamed later on to Teach Big). Randi began writing curriculum based on many years of brain research and dedicated her lessons to building relationships between teachers and students as well as students and learning. As her educational consulting firm grew, so did Randi's dreams. She had a desire to start a Christian Preschool that would foster a love for learning in children at a young age, and so, Strawberry Fields was brought to life! However, just a few weeks before its grand opening, the Kemah area was struck with devastation and our beloved school was flooded by Hurricane Ike. With friends and family helping and supporting, we renovated our building and finally had our grand opening with one class and six students! Through the last 11 years, we have grown as a staff, as students, and as a family. Currently, we have grown to more than 200 students, 25 classes, and 50 teachers! Using Randi's curriculum, we are fostering a love of learning at a young age and building friendships with our students and their families. Our motto at Strawberry Fields is Safety, Love, Teach and if you join our team either as an employee or as a student, you will ALWAYS be a part of our family! Randi Whitney, a 25-year educator (Goose Creek ISD and Pasadena ISD), began her teaching career as a kindergarten teacher until she was asked to move to fifth grade to help students with writing. Taking on the challenge with a mindset that Language Arts should have manipulatives, too, Whitney began developing activities to teach the toughest and most abstract concepts within reading and writing. Before long, her students began loving to read with enthusiasm and write with VOICE. Upon unlocking these mysteries with Teach BIG methodology, Whitney became a much sought-after educator, speaker, author, and trainer. The last twenty years have been spent inspiring fellow teachers by keeping up with new brain-based techniques, writing over 50 books, obtaining multiple trademarks, and spreading her vision to Teach BIG - Believe In Greatness. This philosophy spills over into the preschool, and it is clearly what sets Strawberry Fields apart from a daycare setting! The educational background and experience of Randi Whitney is unapparelled in the business of early childhood education.
