Welgevonden is situated in a region of the Limpopo Province known as Capricorn - so called after the geographical line crossing the province and the northern section of the area. At its centre is Polokwane, one of the nation's fastest growing cities. The town was founded in the gold rush days of the 1880s and is as interesting as its surroundings, a land that has witnessed Stone Age nomads, Iron Age settlements, European migration, wars and political upheaval.
