Alexander Schwiersch

Alex is a veteran of the fixed-income markets with over twenty years of experience as a portfolio manager and credit analyst across the credit spectrum and geographies. Prior to joining Algonquin, Alex was a vice president and fixed income portfolio manager at Invesco. Previous to that, he was a high-yield credit analyst and portfolio manager for Aberdeen and its predecessor, Credit Suisse Asset Management, in London, England. He began his career as a credit analyst at HSBC Asset Management in London having joined from UBC where he was a member of the UBC Portfolio Management Foundation. Former Vice President and Portfolio Manager for Invesco Over 20 years of fixed-income experience as a Portfolio Manager and Credit Analyst with experience in both European and North American markets

Brian D'Costa - President

From Captain in the Airborne Regiment to managing global trading businesses, Brian has achieved tremendous success as a leader, trader, and risk manager. As the former Global Head of Fixed Income and Rates for CIBC, he was responsible for the bank's entire bond and rate trading business, overseeing 40 traders globally. Before that, Brian spent 11 years with TD Securities, where he was the Global Head of Vanilla Interest Rate Derivatives, managing trading teams in Toronto, London, Tokyo, and Sydney. As a Captain in the Canadian Armed Forces, he was awarded the Chief of Defense Staff Commendation for exemplary leadership for his peacekeeping services in Iraq. Brian is a member of the Bank of Canada Fixed Income Forum. When not in the office, Brian can usually be found in the gym, at a hockey rink, or undertaking an ambitious gardening project.

Greg Jeffs - Chief Investment Officer

Greg has over 25 years of capital market experience, most of which were spent as an institutional trader and market maker of corporate bonds. As an Executive Director of Credit Trading at CIBC, he was responsible for managing portfolios of corporate debt and providing liquidity to institutional investors. With his experience comes detailed knowledge of both the individual securities and overall mechanics of the bond markets. Aside from a keen interest in financial markets and investment planning, Greg enjoys nature, travel, and sharing good food and wine with family and friends. Former Executive Director of Credit Trading for CIBC World Markets 25 years of experience in the capital markets, with over 20 years as a corporate bond trader and market maker

Hasnat Mahmood - CFO, Chief Compliance Officer

Hasnat brings a wealth of compliance, finance, and operations experience to the Algonquin team. He began his career working for the ‘Big 4' audit firms in Bermuda and Canada where he focused on financial statement audits of alternative investment funds and investment managers. Most recently, he held the position of Director of Compliance with a Securities Dealer and Investment Fund Manager, where he was responsible for the day-to-day operations of the firm's regulatory and legal compliance function. Outside of work, Hasnat is an avid runner and a fan of the EPL and NFL

Kathleen Biggs

Kathleen is a 40-year veteran of the fixed income markets, having begun her career when they wrote trades on pink sheets and sent them in tubes. In the early 1980s, she joined Merrill Lynch's fixed income trading desk, where she spent 20 years progressing up the ladder, culminating as the Director of Sales. The next decade of her career was as a Managing Director of CanDeal, Canada's inaugural and most successful electronic bond trading platform. From CanDeal, Kathleen joined alternative fixed income manager Lawrence Park Asset Management, where she was the Head of Business Development. From her early days as one of the few women on a bond trading desk to Partner at Algonquin Capital, Kathleen continues to provide clients with insightful solutions to tackle an ever-changing fixed income landscape. When not in the office, Kathleen enjoys spending time with family, the cottage life, and remains grounded as a yoga practitioner.

Raj Tandon

In his previous lives, Raj studied mathematics, traded credit derivatives, and volunteered for numerous charitable organizations. As a structured credit trader for TD Securities London, he managed and traded multi-billion dollar portfolios across North American and international markets. In this capacity, he managed a variety of complex risks, including profitably trading the bank's CDO portfolios through the tumultuous markets of 2008. Outside of work, Raj is passionate about dancing, kayaking, and community service. He is currently a Volunteer Crisis Counsellor for Victim Services Toronto, and in 2022 received the Toronto Police Services' VST Volunteer of the Year Award. Raj also serves as the Chair of the board for Unity, Canada's largest hip-hop charity. Prior to founding Algonquin, Raj spent 18 months volunteering in South America, and whilst in London was awarded Get Connected's 2009 Volunteer of the Year Award for his service on a children's helpline. Riley Pan

Riley joined Algonquin after some very impressive academic achievements in both China and Waterloo. During her Bachelor of Finance, she received the Outstanding Graduate Scholarship and won the Grand Prize in a National Business Plan Competition. Riley arrived in Canada in 2016 and completed a Master of Finance at Wilfrid Laurier University. During her time at Laurier, Riley was an Executive Founding Member of the University's Graduate Student Investment Fund and worked as Teaching Assistant for Advanced Corporate Finance. Outside of work, Riley is a hip-hop dancer.
