Hi there, I am Bjorn (BJ) Wilmot, Co-Owner of Backyard Retreat. I was born in Toronto to Jamaican immigrants and have lived in Toronto and Mississauga all my life. I was named after the famous tennis player Bjorn Borg. In the late 70's, he was an absolute Rockstar and my father loved his energy and popularity. I am just as popular but am missing his famous long blond hair and headband ?.
I started out working at the Hydropool Hot Tub and Swim Spa headquarters in Mississauga back in 2001 and I have been servicing and selling the product ever since. All these years have given me a highly extensive background and experience in our industry. In 2013, I used that experience and ambition to own my own business and joined forces with my business partner Nick Bowen and we opened Backyard Retreat. Being a partner in owning a business has been a great opportunity. It was scary at first but ultimately proved to be the right career choice that has provided me a better quality of life for me and my family. I attribute my success and personal growth to my attention to detail and strong work ethic.
I currently reside in Mississauga with my beautiful wife Jasmine. In my spare time, I like to enjoy my cars, working out, watching my Toronto Raptors, traveling to various places around the world, and spending time with family and friends.
Hi I am Brandon Hunter. I'm a Junior Sales Associate and I'm the newest member to the Backyard Retreat family. So far it has been an amazing experience. I have learned so much about the ins and outs of customer service, sales and the hot tub and swim spa industry. I am looking forward to challenging and advancing myself within the business to further grow. When I am not working, I enjoy writing, modelling, and listening (and dancing) to some good Soca or Dancehall music. You will usually find me on the dance floor or in the DJ booth playing some good tunes and calling people out on the microphone for not dancing ?. Hey there! I am Logan Bowen. After many years of working part-time in the family business, I finally made the move and joined the Backyard Retreat team full time in early 2020. I come from the restaurant/hospitality industry where I used to manage multiple locations for a well-known restaurant chain. I am excited to bring my many years of experience to the team. It's been a pleasure to be helping improve one's quality of life, health and enjoyment through finding the perfect hot tub or swim spa.
I am currently in a long-term relationship to a smart, wonderful, and supportive woman named Sarah and hope to grow that relationship for many years to come.

For nearly 20 years I have had the opportunity to provide exceptional service in retail sales & finance and strive to make every transaction with my clients easy, comfortable and clear. My earliest years were spent as a child in New York City and my teenage life in Jamaica, W.I. Along with a unique experience of the world, life has blessed me with a wonderful wife and many beautiful children both girls & boys. When I'm not busy at work, most of my time is spent teaching my kids bad jokes/life lessons, cheering on my wife as she cooks the most amazing meals, and connecting with local kids in my community through sports, faith & patience. I've had the good fortune of teaching fundamental basketball skills to many kids that are now adults with flourishing careers, and as a student of applied ethics reflect on the many ways to continue enriching the lives of those around me.?
My name is Nick Bowen, better known as "Slick Nick". This nickname was given to me by my school friends due to my leadership, ambition and entrepreneurship. Over the years I have owned and operated many small businesses from a limo service to the fitness industry to even having a cosmetic aesthetician salon.
I am the Co-founder and Co-Owner of Backyard Retreat Home & Leisure. I have over 20 years' experience in the hot tub and pool industry. My vision was to change the culture of this business by offering a 5-star island vacation environment while bringing in the vibes of the West Indian culture to the overall buying experience. I wanted to broaden the market of backyard leisure products to the average hard-working family without prejudice.
It has been a pleasure to have my wife Debra and our oldest son Logan working within the family business. Debra and I have 3 other girls that continue to help us in support of the business.
I live a very active lifestyle while and enjoy time spent in weight training and mixed martial arts. I have a passion for fast cars, basketball and golf.
One of my proudest moments was in 2012 where I was inducted into the Guinness World Records through the Academy of Martial Arts as part of a group for the most people performing a karate kata.
