On July 2, 2023, the Rev. David Aslesen was installed as the new pastor of Baker Memorial United Methodist Church. "Christ is calling the church to be inclusive, extensive and generous in welcoming all people into relationship with God, fully embracing the diversity of humankind, joyfully growing in Christian love, mercy and justice." Pastor David has served congregations in the city and suburbs of Chicago & Rockford for almost thirty years. He has served within the Northern Illinois Conference/UMC as leader of district ordination committees, worship and the arts, immigration justice and reconciling:lgbtq inclusive ministries. A professed NPR news junkie, David enjoys theatre, movies, reading, black coffee, pie of all kinds and spending time with extended family in South Dakota and Iowa.
