Brenda has 30+ years of experience in the information technology field, working with (and within) enterprises applying technology to optimize operations, spur innovation, solve problems, develop products and services, and connect with customers. Brenda started her career as a programmer, progressed through the systems analysis and technical ranks, rising to a chief architect position. During her corporate career, Brenda worked in Aerospace, Banking, Manufacturing, Insurance, and Retail. In 2004, Brenda opened her own consultancy, Elemental Links. Over the last 17 years, Brenda has provided expertise in technology architecture, strategy, transformation, product and program development, and trend analysis to a wide range of clients across industries. Brenda is a system thinker and problem-solver, who works with clients as they start new programs, tackle thorny issues, or transform business and technology capability. Experience Brenda M. Michelson has been providing advisory and consulting services through Elemental Links, Inc. since 2004. Michelson has an integrative point-of-view, which combines the connective thinking of an architect, the strategic concerns of an executive, and the execution pragmatism of a practitioner. Consulting projects have included developing digital products, defining organizational programs and capacities, leading technology knowledge and strategy workshops, guiding (enterprise, product and project) architecture actions and establishing community programs. From 2007 - 2009, Elemental Links was under contract with the Object Management Group (OMG) to develop and lead the community programs of the SOA Consortium. During this tenure, Brenda held the additional title of SOA Consortium Program Director. Prior to pursuing Elemental Links full time, Brenda was a Senior Vice President and Senior Consultant/Analyst with the Patricia Seybold Group. Brenda spent 19 years in corporate IT, culminating in 2004 as Chief Enterprise Architect for L.L. Bean. At L.L. Bean, Brenda was responsible for the articulation and execution of the enterprise architecture strategy (J2EE transformation, enterprise integration, service-oriented architecture (SOA) and event-driven architecture (EDA)), strategic planning, portfolio management and talent development. Previous to L.L. Bean, over the span of 10 years, Brenda provided development services for Insurance, Banking, a Chip Manufacturer and a world leader in Aircraft Engine Design & Manufacturing. Brenda holds a B.S. from Bryant College, from which she graduated summa cum laude.
