Cameron Safarloo became the Chief Executive Officer for Hanna in April, 2021. He is an experienced business executive with over 30 years of operation management and leadership experience, both within the for-profit and nonprofit sectors. Prior to starting at Hanna, Cameron served as a Chief Executive Officer at Youth Homes, a Northern California nonprofit organization providing residential and community mental health services to the foster youth population, where he led and successfully implemented various operational and strategic initiatives on high-impact transformation, agile change, and organizational repositioning for growth. Throughout his career he has held various executive leadership positions within multi-national corporations, start-up, and social services organizations. He has also served on several boards of nonprofit and private organizations over the past 15 years.

Catherine Donahue

Catherine brings a wealth of experience to Hanna as a CPA with over 30 years of experience in finance and accounting. A Big Four alum, Catherine's career includes over a decade of public accounting. Her private sector experience is broad, spanning turnaround situations, from high-growth companies to large multinationals. Prior to joining Hanna, Catherine served as Vice President and Corporate Controller of a North Bay entity leading them through an IPO followed by a highly acquisitive strategy. Catherine's hands-on experience in finance is deep with proven leadership skills to leverage strengths and build solid platforms for growth. Throughout her career, she has held senior leadership roles with McKesson Corporation, Esterline Defense Technologies, DIRECTV, and EY. Catherine is an avid animal lover and enjoys volunteering with animal-related activities when possible. She also serves as a member of the finance committee of a local nonprofit. She is a Sonoma resident and is passionate about Hanna's mission.

Davin Anthony Thomas

Davin Anthony Thompson, also known as Do D.A.T, is an arts educator and emcee hailing from Oakland, California. Davin has spent the majority of his life as a creative writer, performing artist and engaging facilitator in the nonprofit sector. Davin blends the art of emceeing into his facilitation style to captivate audiences of all ages and backgrounds through thought provoking socially conscious music and interactive workshops. With over 20 years of experience working with nonprofit organizations, Davin has gained perspective and knowledge of trauma-informed care, clinical frameworks and theories, social-emotional wellness, creative expression, mindfulness, and music education. He has supported over a dozen organizations as a lead artist, workshop facilitator, event creator, artist development mentor, and a variety of other roles. As an emcee, Davin has had several musical album releases as a solo artist and other collaborative partnerships. He has performed on world renown stages such as the San Francisco Fillmore, Oakland Fox Theater, and the Historical Apollo theater in Harlem New City. With his passion for creative expression, Davin loves to write poems, short stories, and songs in the form of Hip Hop music.

Dr. Daniela Domínguez

Dr. Daniela Domínguez is an Assistant Professor at the University of San Francisco and the Chief Executive Officer at On the Margins, LLC. She is a licensed psychologist and professional clinical counselor with a special interest in liberation psychology, anti-racism, migrant justice, and gender and sexuality matters. She works with Hanna Institute as a consultant. Her program of research has focused on understanding how Black, Indigenous, and People of Color (BIPOC) cope with stress and use specific strategies to draw upon resiliencies to achieve positive health. In 2020, the Society of Counseling Psychologists honored her with the "Early Career Award for Distinguished Professional Contributions to Counseling Psychology." In 2021, the Society of Counseling Psychologists honored her with the "Social Justice Award" for her demonstrated evidence of achieving community change that supports disenfranchised or oppressed groups.

Dr. Jila Malek-Salehi

Dr. Jila Malek-Salehi joins Hanna Institute with over 15 years of teaching and curriculum design experience. Her career in education began teaching K-8 and coaching volleyball at the middle, high school, and college levels. She holds a doctorate in Educational Leadership and Management and has been working with adult learners teaching Child and Adolescent Development at De Anza College and San Jose State University (SJSU). Jila's work at SJSU involves teaching in their 100% online bachelor's degree completion program in Interdisciplinary Studies. She also teaches in the Multiple and Single Subject Teacher Credential Program and the Master of Arts in Teaching. Jila specializes in the art of teaching. She believes in preparing teachers for the field of education through evidence-based approaches to learning. She utilizes Universal Design for Learning and active learning strategies to enhance anything she can teach and share with others. Beyond the classroom, Jila has a strong passion for experiential learning, focusing on equity, diversity, and social justice.

Dr. Rachel Segundo

Dr. Rachel Segundo has been at Hanna since June 2020 and has 15 years of experience working with children, adolescents, and families. She has provided services to victims of sexual assault of various ages as a hotline counselor and hospital respondent, in addition to working with abused and neglected children in the California foster system as an advocate. In her role at Hanna, Dr. Segundo oversees the daily functioning of the clinical aspect of our Legacy program, collaborating with leaders of other departments to ensure quality services and continuity of care. She also provides direct services to our youth and families.

Dr. Robert Macy

Dr. Robert Macy is trained as a theatre artist, Taoist martial artist, dance movement therapist, developmental traumatologist, and disaster behavioral health manager. He has developed body-based psychological trauma interventions, and has launched the design, development, dissemination and implementation of trauma-informed care assessment and intervention service delivery systems in the United States and overseas focusing on schools, residential treatment centers, inpatient units, communities of color with high priority populations, emergency services and large-scale community engagement. Dr. Macy is the Founder and President of the International Trauma Center-Boston, and Co-Founder and Executive Director of The Boston Children's Foundation, also in Boston. Dr. Macy is a founding member of the National Child Traumatic Stress Network (NCTSN), where he is a primary content provider and National Master Trainer for the development of Psychological First Aid, and primary content provider and National Master Trainer for Skills for Psychological Recovery. He has co-chaired the NCTSN Terrorism and Disaster Network Committee and continues as a senior consultant to the NCTSN Terrorism and Disaster Center and has led numerous response and behavioral health recovery teams during national and international disasters. Dr. Macy is a senior response member for the Federal Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration Disaster Technical Assistance Center (DTAC). He is activated by DTAC for major terrorist attacks and natural disasters in the US providing Crisis Counseling Programs (CCP) and continuum of care trauma focused interventions for youth, family and community.

Dr. Sita-Marie Pillay

Dr. Sita-Marie Pillay obtained her doctorate in clinical psychology from the CSPP at Alliant International University. While Dr. Pillay has worked with a wide range of clientele, she has a current emphasis on transitional-age youth. She has found that each client is unique in their needs and uses multi-theoretical psychology to support her clients. Dr. Pillay's research includes multiethnic adolescents who have experienced events of trauma and bibliotherapy. Her current specialties include the LBGTQAI+ population, the South Asian-Pacific Islander community, the multiethnic identity, suicide awareness, and trauma.

Eliana Martin

Eliana Martin is a bilingual Clinical Social Worker; she obtained her master's in social work from Western Carolina University. She enjoys working with people from all backgrounds but specializes in BIPOC individuals; especially Spanish speaking migrants, and those who identify as LGBTQAI +. Her practice prioritizes Cultural Humility, Solution-Focused, Client-Centered, and LGBTQAI+ affirmative care.

Emily Alona

Emily is a Sonoma native, graduating from Sonoma Valley High School before moving to Southern California. She received her BA from Long Beach State University and MSW from California State University, Fullerton. She worked with young children and their parents, both in Early Childhood Education as well as Early Childhood Mental Health, with an emphasis on improving parent-child relationships. Emily has worked at Hanna Center since 2015. She enjoys traveling and, above all else, spending time with her husband and young daughter.

Erminio Carreno

Erminio has been at Hanna Center for 6 years, he has taken many roles at out center beginning as a youth counselor, following with coordinator of residence and caseworker roles. Currently Erminio is transitioning into the role of MFT Trainee, he is enrolled in the Clinical Mental Health Counseling masters program at Sonoma State University and is working towards getting licensed as a marriage and family therapist. As a Latinx MFT trainee, he is passionate about serving the Spanish-speaking community and helping lessen the fear of accessing mental health services. Erminio is interested in furthering his clinical work with adolescents experiencing trauma, Hanna Center alums, families, couples and adults.

Leslie Petersen

Leslie Petersen is the Vice President of Contracts and Business Development. She has been part of the Hanna team since 2007, and during that time has held positions in Finance and Fund Development. She has created spectacular events for thousands to enjoy and is a tireless advocate for the youth on our campus and in the community. In her current role, Leslie works closely with youth and child-serving organizations and is in charge of all contracts for Hanna. She's a member of the Hanna leadership team and is responsible for helping guide decisions related to business operations of Hanna. Leslie recently completed her Certificate in Fundraising from Boston University. She is deeply ingrained in the Sonoma community and lives in Glen Ellen, where she has lived her whole life, and also where she raised her family.

In this role, Marisa oversees all fund development-annual fund, major giving, planned giving, foundation grants, events, campaigns, etc. Marisa has a diverse background in nonprofit philanthropy with experience in all aspects of fundraising, including communications, major gifts and community relations. She has more than a decade of experience working with organizations focused on social justice work including as Director of Development for the Bay Area office of Facing History and Ourselves, an educational organization, and as Development Officer for CORA (Community Overcoming Relationship Abuse), a domestic violence agency. Other roles include Marketing and Communications for Aquarium of the Bay and Peninsula Family Service Marisa started at Hanna in 2020 as the Director of Corporate and Foundation Relations. In her free time, Marisa serves as the Secretary for Vallejo Symphony.

Nick Dalton helped launch the Hanna Institute in 2016 as the Assistant Director, and became Co-Director in 2018 and is now currently one of our trainers. Mostly recognized as the face of DirecTV bills in the mid 2000s, Nick was a part of the Broadway community for 15 years while teaching and training human serving humans around the globe. They are a talented interdisciplinary artist, teacher, and facilitator with a background in SEL through Arts Integration, Restorative Practices, and Community Development. Their specialty is collaborating with English Language Learners as well as Immigrant and Refugee communities. With two young children, Nick is passionate about Early Childhood Education, Parental Mental Health, how to decolonize public health and education, and dissecting why adult clothes just aren't as fun as those for littles.

Noeli Cardenas Zamora

Noeli Cardenas Zamora is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist with many years of clinical experience providing treatment to children and adults in various sectors of the mental health community in both Southern and Northern California. As a licensed clinical supervisor, she has overseen the administration of treatment programs that facilitate clinical services for at risk children, families, and adults. Noeli is a bilingual/bicultural provider with specialized training in the areas of trauma, grief and loss, behavioral analysis, intimate partner relations and Latinx women. Noeli has been an invited speaker in the areas of clinical treatment of children, professional development, and overcoming barriers to mental health recovery. She is a distinguished graduate of Pepperdine University where she received specialized training in the areas of assessment and treatment of Latinx clients. She was also appointed as adjunct faculty at Pepperdine University's Graduate School of Education and Psychology.

With over 10 years of experience designing, implementing and evaluating professional teaching-&-learning programs, Dr. Rayna Friendly serves as Hanna Institute's Curriculum Developer and Lead Trainer. Prior to joining Hanna in 2022, she taught developmental and cognitive psychology courses at San José State University, in the Child and Adolescent Development Department, where she promoted Students-As-Partners and professional development initiatives amongst her colleagues. While completing her Ph.D. in Developmental Psychology (McMaster University), Rayna conducted multiple research studies examining the influence of people and culture on the development of brain and behavior across childhood. She then completed a Postdoctoral Fellowship in Teaching & Professional Development (McMaster University), managing the creation and evaluation of inter-institutional virtual and in-person adult learning certificate programs. Rayna develops innovative training initiatives that utilize active learning strategies and teaching technologies to enhance the experience of learners from diverse backgrounds. Her focus is on promoting diversity, equity and inclusion practices, while building community and enhancing culture within and across organizations.

A graduate of St. Mary's College in Moraga, Calif., Scott joined the Hanna Center staff in 1982 as a recreation program coordinator. Scott received his Master in Educational Leadership from his alma mater in 1987, and has since amassed more than 500 continuing educational hours in residential care during his tenure at Hanna. Scott has continued to grow both professionally and personally at Hanna and he currently holds the position of Chief of Operations. His expertise, guidance and caring spirit continue to ensure that Hanna fulfills its mission of turning hurt into hope for at-risk boys and their families. Scott has been instrumental in providing both program and project support throughout the planning phases. Scott currently works closely with the California Department of Social Services, and with local youth associations and school boards. He previously worked with several California juvenile youth organizations. Throughout his career, Scott has volunteered countless hours in support of local youth athletic groups, including serving as a youth sports coach and league administrator in his home community. Scott continues to volunteer with other nonprofit organizations, and is associated with several community service groups including those dedicated to overcoming gang influence and violence in our communities.

Stephanie Miller is the Vice President of People Operations at Hanna.
