Edgard Stuber

Edgard Stuber is a design-thinking specialist focusing on the resolution of complex problems. He combines 30 years of experience as a senior executive in the automotive parts industry and machinery sector with in-depth academic knowledge as a result of his doctoral thesis in Philosophy Science. In 2010, Edgard founded Stuber Inovação & Resolução de Problemas, and, since then, generated value for organizations through customized projects and mentoring for solving problems in environments of high uncertainty and ambiguity. Throughout his career at Freudenberg, a German-based global company, Edgard brought to market new products and services, working closely with the headquarters and innovation teams in Germany and automotive customers in Brazil. Between 2000 and 2004, he was Director of the automotive aftermarket at Freudenberg for Latin America, directing global projects using the Toyota Production System (Lean System) to reduce waste in manufacturing as well as in administrative areas. From 2004 to 2010, as Vice President of Marketing and Sales for Stihl Brazil, Edgard worked with the Board of Directors of the Stihl Group, leading the modernization and professionalization efforts at the Brazilian subsidiary. Main achievements include the redefinition of the organization's strategy; a significant increase in revenue and profit; the overhaul of product and service portfolio; the redesign of sales channels; the implementation of strategic segmentation of markets; and the introduction of innovation management and knowledge-sharing processes. Edgard is a professor of Design Thinking with the Institute of Education and Research at Insper, as well as with FIA Business School in short-term postgraduate programs.

Projects have included substantial global commercial projects as well as major IT initiatives (e.g.SAP, ERP, data migration).

Katy Kavanaugh

Catherine (Katy) Kavanaugh feels multidisciplinarity is one of the defining features of the Design Thinking process. She came to social innovation by way of the Hasso Plattner Institute of Design at Stanford (d.school) and the Stanford Graduate School of Education, where she focused on Cognitive Development and the many ways in which we learn. Prior to attending Stanford, Kavanaugh produced documentary films and a touring international film festival to engage learners with their world. Her research investigates autobiographical memory and its impact on decision making. She brings with her a deep understanding of how team cohesion and creative confidence enable native innovation. She has worked with project partners including PepsiCo, Gray Area, Lucile Packard Children's Hospital, Fidelity Savings and Hermann Miller with Peking University and the Central Academy of Fine Art in Beijing. As guest lecturer at the Hasso Plattner Institute for Software Systematic - School of Design Thinking, she coached graduate students for project partners including SAP, Janssen & Janssen, Babelsberg Filmpark and served as producer for the first international Design Thinking conference, the d.Confestival. In 2014, she was guest expert for the Design Thinking Week presented by Top 500 Innovators of Poland and the American Embassy, Poland. Introduced to Kazakhstan through the Silicon Valley Innovation Center, she delivered Design Thinking to the Nazarbayev School, Astana and in 2016 to professors, administrators and NGOs through Almaty Management University in Almaty and Aktau.

Reinhold is a design innovation specialist, educator and researcher impacting the business, education, public and social enterprise sectors via design thinking. In addition to leading IntoActions, he is an instructor with the dGlobal at Stanford: Bringing the Stanford Design Tradition to You program and the Ambassador for the Stanford University Global Design Innovation Program, representing the program in Brazil and across Latin America. Reinhold was a visiting professor at the University of São Paulo in 2010/2011, and a visiting researcher at the University of St. Gallen in Switzerland, the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile, and the Pontificia Universidad Javeriana in Cali, Colombia. He is the recipient of the ICETEX Innovation Fellowship from the Colombian government. He also held teaching and research appointments in technology, education, design, and innovation at Santa Clara University in Silicon Valley, the Virtual University of São Paulo (UniVesp), as well as at the Fundação Vanzolini. As Director of the Entrepreneurship and Innovation Program at the University of San Francisco, Reinhold led the School of Management's effort to prepare the next generation of global innovators and entrepreneurs. Reinhold Steinbeck, Managing Director of IntoActions, never owned a garage in Silicon Valley. However, for over 20 years, he worked in leading positions with Apple and Stanford University in the areas of technology, education, and design. It was with Apple and Stanford that he became infused and enthused by the spirit of innovation and entrepreneurial culture of Silicon Valley. At Stanford, Reinhold worked closely with the Director of the Stanford Center for Design Research (CDR), Prof. Larry Leifer, one of the most influential personalities and pioneers of Design Thinking. Larry is also a member of the founding team of the Hasso Plattner Institute of Design at Stanford University, also known as the d.school. At Apple, Reinhold was part of the Advanced Technology Group (ATG) led by Don Norman, regarded as one of the leading experts in user-centered design. In 2010, Reinhold moved to Brazil as a Visiting Professor at the University of São Paulo (USP), where he established d-USPLeste, the Laboratório de Design, Inovação e Criatividade, the first university-based social innovation lab in Brazil. He also planted the seeds for an innovation company during that time. And in 2012, after his return to California, Reinhold formally established IntoActions, an international Innovation Company headquartered in San Francisco.
