Engineer Jameel was also a sportsman during his college time and was Colour Holder of Hockey and Cricket Team of Cadet College for the years (1967-69). He was twice elected President of POFs Officers Association (1992-96) and was also elected Secretary General of Abdalians Association (1999-2002). He was also candidate for the post of Chairmanship for Pakistan Engineering Council for the term 2011-2013 but that election was postponed.
