Japan Bangladesh Friendship Hospital (JBFH) is the result of an initiative to bring minimal access surgery known as laparoscopic surgery to Bangladesh. This initiative was taken by Prof. Dr. Sarder A. Nayeem who was part of the pioneering team of laparoscopic surgeons in Tokyo, Japan in 1987. The first laparoscopic surgery in Bangladesh was carried out by Prof. Dr. Sarder A. Nayeem and his team in December 1990. Japan Bangladesh Friendship Hospital was founded by Prof. Dr. Sarder A. Nayeem, Prof. Dr. Jonaid Shafiq, and Dr. Faisal Muazzam in collaboration with Dr. Shigeru Suganami of Japan in 8th April, 1994...
