The next day, after a full shutdown of both my VM, and host, I opened the VirtualBox Manager to discover my main VM was "inaccessible," and all of the buttons were grayed out. The message on the side was something along the lines of "cannot attach medium […] VBoxGuestAdditions.iso […] Result Code: VBOX_E_OBJECT_IN_USE". This made me panic in my usual way - cursing under my breath, then sighing heavily for no reason apparent to the people within earshot... Turns out, bla bla bla VirtualBox made two DVD drives in my VM, and attached the same ISO to both of them. Awesome. Thankfully, it was a pretty easy fix...
