Gary Pickard was born and raised in the City of Barrie. He graduated from the University of Western Ontario Law School in 1985 and was called to the bar in Ontario in 1987.

Mike Miller has practiced criminal law for over 40 years in Barrie and surrounding areas: 1982 to 1988 - Assistant Crown Attorney in Barrie, Ontario. 1988 to present - Criminal Defence Partnership with Gary Pickard, Barrie, Ontario. Mike Miller earned his LLB in Dalhousie, Halifax in 1980 and his undergrad degree at Concordia University in 1977.
