Dr. Sherwood ("Dr. Ann") joined Middleton Veterinary Hospital in 1990 after graduating from the University of Wisconsin School of Veterinary Medicine, earning a DVM degree. She worked full-time until the arrival of her daughter seven years later.
Dr. Ann currently divides her time between the hospital and her family of two children, two dogs, two cats, and husband. Her veterinary interests include cardiology and animal behavior. Her hobbies include bicycling, skiing, reading, yarn crafts, and jewelry making.
In addition, Dr. Sherwood is currently involved in veterinary politics as the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA) House of Delegates representative for the state of Wisconsin.

Dr. Ashton Townsley joined Middleton Veterinary Hospital in 2022. He grew up in north eastern Illinois before attending the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, where he received a Bachelor of Science in Animal Science. He then decided to move to the land of the badger and graduated from the University of Wisconsin School of Veterinary Medicine in 2021. He worked at an emergency practice for a year in Milwaukee before deciding he wasn't quite finished with the Madison area, and relocated back. His medical interests include emergency and critical care, surgery, oncology, and client education.
Outside of veterinary medicine, Dr. Townsley enjoys being outside, spending time with those he loves, and watching a good TV show. He shares his home with a tri-pawed pitty named Pepper, who is constantly by his side.
Dr. Brittany White joined MVH in March, 2022. She graduated from the University of Wisconsin School of Veterinary Medicine in 2003. Dr. White grew up in the Madison area and worked for the first 5 years after graduation in Galena, Illinois at a small animal practice. She moved back to the area in 2008 to settle in Fitchburg with her husband Bob. They have two completely not spoiled cats, Smudge and Dot, and a willful cocker spaniel, Anthony.
Dr. White loves being a small animal primary care doctor and seeing pets through all events of their lives. She particularly enjoys preventive care, indoor cat wellness and dentistry.
Dr. Debra L Smith-Reed grew up in Southwestern Wisconsin and currently resides in Dodgeville, Wisconsin. She received an undergraduate degree in Animal Science from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and earned a DVM degree from the University of Wisconsin-Madison School of Veterinary Medicine. Dr. Smith-Reed worked as a mixed animal veterinarian for several years, before switching to all small animal. She practiced at a few clinics in southwestern Wisconsin, did relief work, and also enjoyed being involved in shelter medicine.
Outside of work, Dr. Smith-Reed enjoys spending time with family, play at photography, and visiting state parks. Besides her husband she shares her home with rescues Bindi a lab mix and Fat Cat and Skittishcat sisters that were "foster failures".

Dr. Sullivan, our Chief of Staff, joined Middleton Veterinary Hospital in 2013. A life-long native of Madison, Dr. Sullivan received a Bachelor of Science degree in Zoology before earning a DVM degree from the University of Wisconsin School of Veterinary Medicine in 2002. Prior to joining us, she practiced at Athens Veterinary Service in Northern Wisconsin for 11 years. Her medical interests include internal medicine, surgery, critical care and pain management.
In her spare time, Dr. Sullivan enjoys travel, dressage, the theater, astronomy, and spending time outdoor. Her pets include a Border Collie named Tennyson, two cats - Max and Peanut, and a miniature donkey named Phinnaeus.
