O-LAB

Having graduated from Kyoto University with an MSc in Chemistry, Aya went on to further his studies his in Chemistry with an MSc from Yale University, USA. Aya then moved to the suburbs of LA and began working in a research facility at a biomed corporation whilst combining night classes in design with intense periods of self study, which ultimately led to him starting work at a design studio. Having worked his way up to become Senior Designer and Project Manager there, in 2011 he founded the design studio o-lab in Kyoto, with the aim of solving problems with that certain "oh!" factor. In 2016 o-lab was established as a company. At o-lab the perspectives are essentially unchained, so regardless of the field or sector, wherever sensibilities and logic intersect, o-lab are there to provide design and branding solutions as well as direction, from traditional artisanal crafts through to cutting edge medical technology...
