Aimee Besant

Aimee is Head of Energy Storage with a strong track record of energy storage projects in both Owner's Engineering and technical due diligence. Owner's Engineering (155.4 MW / 225.6 MWh): Aimee has acted as project manager and/or technical expert on owner's engineering BESS projects in the UK, Croatia and Malawi. Key aspects of these projects have included BESS sizing reviews, procurement support, such as the drafting of employer's requirements and technical annexes of contracts for BESS supply and EPC, assessment of tender responses, negotiation of warranty terms and the generation and review of testing and commissioning procedures. Technical due diligence (540 MW / 820 MWh): Aimee has acted as project manager and technical lead for multiple BESS technical due diligence projects, spanning individual projects and full pipeline reviews. The scope of these reviews includes grid connection review, desktop site reviews, key participants and technology reviews, reviews of the technical aspects and key commercial details of warranties and contractual suite reviews; including EPC contracts, BoP contracts, PPA, route to market agreements, O&M agreements, supply agreements and ICP agreements.

Christian Apeah

Christian Apeah is heading OWC's Independent Engineering department, being overall responsible for OWC's support in M&A and financing activities in form of technical due diligence (TDD) and lenders technical advisory (LTA) services. Being active in the wind industry since 2008, he has a wealth of experience, having worked on a number of large-scale on- and offshore wind fam (OWF) projects in various positions worldwide. Prior to joining OWC, Christian has been working for Vattenfall leading and directing its offshore wind interface management team, supporting all Vattenfall's OWFs under development and construction by that time. In addition, Christian led the technical advisory activities of his and the wider engineering department to prepare Vattenfall for future financial partners in its OWF projects. Before that, Christian led Wood plc. offshore wind team in Hamburg and has been working as LTA and principal consultant on several assignments. With DNV he worked as surveyor and consultant on WTG technology and major OWFs.

Claire Atkins

Claire graduated as a Structural Engineer in 2008 and completed a masters, MEngSc, in University College Cork in 2010. Claire has worked in Energy and Oceans since 2010. Within her previous roles at Global Maritime and at Aqualis Offshore/ABL, Claire sat within the MODU team undertaking various structural analyses and assessments of jackup units. At OWC, Claire has also managed numerous cable monitoring, reburial and scour remediation campaigns for export cables in the UK, on behalf of the OFTO. Since returning to Ireland, Claire has worked in the onshore and offshore sectors. Onshore, Claire has managed consenting applications, including EIAR, for utility scale solar PV, wind and also energy stabiliser projects. Offshore, Claire has undertaken many early stage project scopes including managing technical due diligence for offshore wind portfolios. Claire sits on the offshore consenting committee in Wind Energy Ireland. She is passionate about the energy transition in Ireland.

Craig Brown

Craig Brown is a Principal Consultant with OWC. He leads the company's Market Studies service line, providing beskope market studies and market entry strategies for global clients. Craig has an undergraduate degree in economics and graduate degree in international relations from the American University of Paris. He was a visiting researcher at the Oxford Institute for Energy Studies, where his research and publications covered energy market policies and regulations for conventional and non-conventional energy technologies. Prior to coming to OWC, Craig was a Principal at a renewables-focused management consultancy. Previous to that, he worked with an offshore wind engineering consultancy, where he positioned novel offshore wind technologies in emerging offshore wind markets.

Damien Pasco

Damien Pasco is a Project Manager with over 10 years of project management experience in the energy infrastructure sector. He is accustomed to the specificities of multiple energy markets, having worked on major projects in Asia, the Middle East, and the Americas. His key experiences include the management of fast-track energy projects at tender or auction stage, during development and execution, early definition of project financing requirements and negotiation of complex partnership agreements with industry leaders. His cross-industry experiences working for an EPCI contractor, project developer and vessel owner provide him with the necessary versatility to efficiently interact with all stakeholders along the project lifecycle, while benefiting from cross-industry insights.

Dr Andy Mills

Dr Andy Mills has 20 years' experience evaluating ground conditions through detailed geomorphological analysis and terrain mapping, guiding clients to successful outcomes in a range of onshore and offshore environments. Dr Neil Thurston

Dr Neil Thurston is OWC's Geospatial lead with over 27 years of consultancy experience in the delivery of Geographical Information Systems, mapping and management of environmental and infrastructure data, web mapping portal development, geospatial data management, and environmental risk assessment. Neil is an experienced project manager, director and/or technical lead of UK GIS and geomatics projects. Examples include GIS lead for peat landslide risk assessments in England, Scotland and Wales; lead developer for the Environment Agency's National Water Resources GIS (WRGIS) system; delivery of strategic noise mapping for Northern Ireland (END Rounds 2 and 3); technical advisor for UK onshore and offshore windfarm studies for RWE, Scottish Power and Shell; development of GIS systems for Horizon Nuclear Power (Wylfa Newydd nuclear) and Nugeneration (Moorside); creation of ESRI web portal to support Heathrow Airport's expansion programme; delivery of GIS/machine learning studies for Network Rail; flood risk assessments for the Association of British Insurers, Defra, EDF and the Climate Change Committee; and project manager for remote sensing studies of land use change (for DIO). Neil has also managed or acted as a technical lead for a variety of international GIS and remote sensing assessment studies. These include: GIS lead for offshore wind development studies in Azerbaijan, Germany, Japan and Portugal; development of GIS capabilities for the National Water and Sewerage Authority (NAWASA) in Grenada; creation of an online ESRI mapping portal for strategic road transport in the Western Balkans (for the World Bank) and Ukraine (for the EBRD); windfarm; solar energy assessments and environmental survey projects in Australia and Saudi Arabia; and the development of GIS tools for the Government of the British Virgin Islands, Cayman Islands and Turks & Caicos Islands.

Dr Nguyen Dinh

Dr Nguyen Dinh is the Global Head of Power-to-X and Hydrogen at OWC and Principal at OWC Ireland and OWC Vietnam. Nguyen has more than 20 years of experience with expertise in several areas, including hydrogen, offshore wind, and infrastructure engineering. Since joining OWC, Nguyen has worked together with the wider ABL Group and supported the continuous growth of a strong hydrogen team and services. Prior to joining OWC, he worked at Ireland's National Marine Renewable Energy (MaREI) Centre and was a principal investigator (director) of several industry research projects in hydrogen production from offshore wind farms, superconducting power cables for marine applications, offshore wind substructures, and floating wind pilot. He successfully managed the pivotal EirWind project, and a consortium of multi-disciplinary research teams and experts from 10 companies developed the Irish offshore wind energy blueprint 2020 - 2050, including hydrogen production. Prior to that, he was a senior engineer at Wood Plc and a European Marie-Curie experienced researcher at Trinity College Dublin and developed controllers and coupled modelling methods for floating offshore wind and wave energy converters and for time-frequency analysis of structures under nonstationary excitations. Before that, he worked in The Netherlands, South Korea, and Thailand. Nguyen has also provided support for national offshore wind energy development in Vietnam since 2015, including international experience review; policy recommendations; zoning; resource assessment; evaluation of infrastructure including power grid and ports; training; and technical due diligence. Nguyen is a member of the RenewableUK's Green Hydrogen Working Group and a member of FLOSH (Floating Offshore Wind, Super Grid and Hydrogen) Committee of Wind Energy Ireland. He is currently the Marine Hydrogen Energy Specialist for the Asian Development Bank (ADB), representing ABL Group in a two-year project supporting the identification of investment for green hydrogen projects in the Pacific, frameworks to facilitate large-scale investment and mechanisms to accelerate financing. Nguyen holds a BEng with distinction from the National University of Civil Engineering, Vietnam, a MEng, and a PhD in Engineering from the Asian Institute of Technology (AIT), Thailand. The outcome of his PhD won the Mitsui-Sumitomo Insurance Welfare Foundation Research Award in 2009.

Gill Howard-Larsen is a recognised leader in global energy and renewables with over 30 years of experience in international infrastructure development, project financing, and technical due diligence totalling 20+GW. She is a seasoned and recognised expert in greenfield development, M&A, technical due diligence, deal negotiation and execution, business strategy, developing client relationships and building high performing teams. Gill leads our technical advisory and engineering teams, supporting the development, financing and M&A of both offshore and onshore renewable energy projects across North and South America. Prior to joining OWC, Gill spent the last decade building and then leading a global Independent Engineering and Lenders' Technical Advisory Practice of 300 professionals at UL Solutions. Ms. Howard-Larsen holds a BA and MA from Cambridge University and has completed finance and executive leadership classes at London Business Scholl and MIT. Gill has previously been recognized in the Top 100 Women in Power List, the North America Power List and Top 40 Women in Energy Storage List.

Johan Coronado

Johan Coronado has worked as a geotechnical consultant since 2012, focusing on Offshore Wind for the last five years. He has worked on several wind farm projects in The United Kingdom, The Netherlands, Taiwan and Japan, with a focus on geotechnical engineering design reviews, seismic assessments, desktop studies and development of project geosciences strategies and programmes. Key experience includes geoscience package management, planning and management of site investigations, site characterisation, ground model development, foundation design, Jack-up leg penetration analyses, pile driveability analyses, liquefaction assessments and seismic hazard assessments. Prior to joining OWC, Johan worked as a geotechnical engineer leading projects, mainly for the Oil and Gas industry in Venezuela. Johan's PhD research on enhancement of seismic resilience in urban environments included a collaborative program with EDF (Electricite de France) Lab Paris-Saclay and SPI (Stangenberg und Partner Ingenieur-GmbH) in the European project LOSSVAR to assess the influence of random soil variability in the study of soil structure interaction problems. He specialised in non-localised vibration control strategies, 2D and 3D FE analysis of the dynamic cross-interaction of groups of structures coupled with and through the soil as well as time-domain parameter identification techniques for the definition of equivalent simplified models.

John MacAskill

John MacAskill is the Group Managing Director Renewables. ABL Group's renewables offering covers technical advisory, engineering and design, marine operations, and marine warranty. John has over 20 years experience in business development in the engineering and consultancy sector, the last 13 being in renewables. Originally a marine engineer, John has developed a leading profile in offshore wind, started and established two business units in renewables and recently established the ABL Group marketing function and the group's ESG reporting and strategy. Before that, he was responsible for the business development and marketing of OWC while delivering assignments covering TDD, certification, procurement, supply chain and general strategic support for offshore wind clients.

Katherine Phillips is the Chief Transformation Officer for ABL Group. Previously the Managing Director of OWC, she is interested in all aspects of renewables, energy transition, and how we can achieve net zero. With a long experience in leading teams delivering consultancy in the renewables industry, Katherine led a large multidisciplinary team at Atkins before joining OWC in 2018. Since joining OWC, she has been instrumental in the growth of OWC into the world-leading renewable energy consultancy it is today. Katherine's background is in offshore structures (oil & gas and offshore wind). She has an undergraduate degree from the University of Cambridge and is a chartered member of the ICE.

Masataka Nakagawa is working as a Country Manager in Japan since January 2025 and at OWC since June 2021. He is a marine, structural and civil engineer with significant knowledge and experience for floating offshore wind projects over 7 years. He had been working as an engineer at one of leading offshore wind EPCI contractor in Japan and responsible for performing integrated load analysis with representative operational and parked conditions using combined external loads (wind, wave and current), which are obtained by measurement tower/buoy installed at actual sea, to calculate both extreme and fatigue loads for floating offshore wind turbine and its mooring system. In addition, he was responsible for offshore installation activities, managing the marine contractors, perform relevant technical calculations, and keeping the schedule on time. He also supported the site preparation work, foundation fabrication work (steel/concrete), onshore assembly work, and load-out activities. He was also responsible for design optimisation of mooring system for floating offshore wind turbines. In this project, he had successfully managed the design, manufacture, and installation of the Japan's first synthetic mooring for floating offshore wind turbine. At OWC, he was project manager of 30+ early stage floating offshore wind projects over the last 3.5 years, such as site screening, desktop study, market study, foundation design (both steel and concrete), hull fabrication and WTG integration study, technical due diligence and feasibility study for commercial scale floating wind farm.
