Dr. Preschel completed his medical degree at the Central University of Venezuela and was awarded an educational grant from Venezuela's Gran Mariscal de Ayacucho Foundation, which allowed him to attend a post-graduate training program in the United States. He served his internal medicine internship at the Beth Israel Medical Center in New York City and was awarded a research fellowship in ophthalmic pathology.
