I started in the Amateur Radio hobby back in 1989 while severing with the Marine Corps at the Naval Air Station Willow Grove, PA and was originally assigned the call of KA3WLV. After retiring from my military service, I returned back to school and started a whole new career. This left little time for the hobby. I never wanted to have to take the morse code test again, so I kept my ham ticket active. I stayed with my Technician Plus license for nearly 29 years... In march of 2021, a call came out from my town Fire Chief to all Amateurs to assist with communications for COVID 19 response. This sparked my interest, and I contacted a local Amateur Radio club. The crew at that club (www.w1op.com) really lit the fire in me. I had not felt as much camaraderie since leaving the USMC. They are a great group of people.
