Alfonzo joined Smartgroup as Chief Information Officer in March 2022. He previously worked as Chief Information Officer of LeasePlan Australia, where he established a strong foundational program to support growth in both Australia, New Zealand and Europe. Having spent 25 years working in Asia-Pacific, Europe, Africa and the United States, Alfonzo is a global executive with extensive leadership experience in digital transformation. He has also worked to innovate in the insurance industry. Alfonzo holds a Bachelor's degree in Accounting Science, Accounting and Auditing from the University of South Africa.

Anne McDonald

Having worked over 35 years in finance, accounting, auditing, risk management and governance, Anne is an Independent Director with a wealth of financial and commercial experience. She is a Non-Executive Director of St Vincent's Health Australia Limited and Transport Asset Holding Entity of New South Wales where she chairs the Audit and Risk Committees. Anne is also a Non-Executive Director of Link Administration Holdings Limited, and a member of their Audit Committee and Human Resources and Remuneration Committee. Previously, she was a partner at Ernst & Young for 15 years and Non-Executive Director of Spark Infrastructure Group, GPT Group and a number of other businesses. Anne is also a Chartered Accountant, a graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors, and holds a Bachelor of Economics from the University of Sydney.

Anthony Dijanosic - CFO

Anthony was appointed Chief Financial Officer in May 2021. Prior to this, he was Smartgroup's Deputy Chief Financial Officer since April 2016, and Interim Chief Financial Officer since December 2020. Anthony is a Chartered Accountant with more than 25 years' experience in finance and project roles in Australia and overseas, across the general insurance, investment banking services and manufacturing sectors. Prior to joining Smartgroup, Anthony was Chief Financial Officer of ASX listed insurance group, Calliden Group Ltd, until its acquisition by Steadfast Group and Munich RE. Anthony holds a Master of Business Administration from Macquarie Graduate School of Management and a Bachelor of Commerce from University of NSW.

Bijal Desai - Chief Risk Officer

Bijal joined Smartgroup as Chief Risk Officer in June 2018 and manages the risk and internal audit functions. He is responsible for defining and delivering a risk management framework, which supports business growth opportunities. Bijal is a senior executive with over 25 years financial services, risk management and internal audit experience with global companies such as VocaLink, Macquarie Bank, Babcock & Brown, JPMorgan Chase, Goldman Sachs, Deutsche Bank and KPMG. Prior to joining Smartgroup, he was the Head of Group Risk at Woolworths Group. Bijal is a Chartered Accountant and holds a Bachelor's degree in Money, Banking and Finance from The University of Birmingham

Carolyn Colley

Carolyn has more than 30 years of leadership experience spanning the financial services and innovation sectors across many disciplines including strategy, operations, technology and product development. Carolyn has held roles as the Chief Operating Officer and co-founder of Faethm, a global analytics SaaS platform and as CEO of Decimal Software Ltd, and prior to that she held senior executive roles at Macquarie Bank, St George Bank and BT Financial Group. She is also an Independent Non-Executive Director of OnePath Custodians Limited and Oasis Fund Management Limited, both wealth businesses of ANZ.

Deborah Homewood

Deborah has many years of experience in management in various sectors, including retail, the medical industry and communications. She is currently Managing Director of MAX Solutions. Prior to working for MAX Solutions, Deborah was CEO of Pacnet, Australia and New Zealand, an Asian-headquartered telecommunications carrier. She was with Pacnet for 10 years and held various senior roles including Vice President Sales, South Asia. She is a current member of Chief Executive Women, and chaired the Membership Committee from 2010 to 2012.

Ian Watt AC

Ian worked for nearly 20 years at very senior levels of the Australian public service. His most recent appointment was as Secretary of the Department of Prime Minister and Cabinet and head of the Australian Public Service, a position he held from 2011 to 2014. Before that, he was Secretary of the Departments of Defence, Finance, and Communications, Information Technology and the Arts between 2001 and 2011. Before that, Ian was Deputy Secretary of the Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet. Ian is currently chair of the International Centre for Democratic Partnerships, the ADC Advisory Council, and the Australian Governance and Ethical Index Fund Advisory Board. Ian is also on the Board of Citibank Pty Ltd, the Grattan Institution, EnviroPacific Services Pty Ltd, the Committee for Economic Development, and a Member of the Council of the Australian National Maritime Museum. He is a Senior Advisor to Flagstaff Partners.

John Prendiville

Sarah has held management roles at AccessPay since 2014, including Chief Commercial Officer, developing strong expertise working with public benevolent institutions and the unique salary packaging benefits that apply to this sector. Prior to AccessPay, Sarah worked in numerous management roles, including an extensive leadership career at Sensis (Yellow Pages).

Scott joined Smartgroup in July 2023. Scott has more than 20 years' experience in financial services and has a strong track record leading and transforming organisations. Prior to this role he was the CEO of The Star Sydney where he was responsible for stabilising the business. Previously, Scott was a Group Executive with Commonwealth Bank and had held senior leadership positions with Citigroup in Hong Kong and New York. Scott is a Fellow and Adjunct Professor (Industry) at the University of Technology Sydney (UTS) and a member of the Vice Chancellor's Industry Advisory Board, and is Board Co-Chair of Supply Nation. Scott holds a Bachelor of Science from the University of Sydney, a Bachelor of Laws from UTS, an Executive MBA from INSEAD and an Executive MBA from Tsinghua University.
