Amy J. Benjamin

Amy J. Benjamin, Of Counsel, received a B.A. cum laude in American Studies from Brandeis University in 1986. She received her J.D. from New York University School of Law in 1989, where she was also a Fellow in Libel Law. Ms. Benjamin is admitted to practice law in New York State and before all of the U.S. District Courts in New York, the Eastern District of Michigan, and the Second, Ninth and Federal Circuit Courts of Appeals. Prior to joining Stein IP, Ms. Benjamin was an associate at Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom's New York Office where she practiced in the firm's intellectual property group. Ms. Benjamin then joined the intellectual property firm Darby & Darby, P.C. in its New York office, where she was an associate for six years and then as a partner of the firm for another ten years. She left Darby & Darby in January 2009 to found Benjamin Law PC, in New York, a firm specializing in all aspects of intellectual property law except for patent prosecution. Ms. Benjamin's practice focuses on all areas of intellectual property law including trademark, copyright, and unfair competition, advertising and First Amendment litigation, counseling and procurement. She has significant experience with Internet, new media and on-line matters such as key word and pop-up advertising and domain name issues. Ms. Benjamin manages significant trademark portfolios with U.S. and foreign trademark prosecution, and provides clearance opinion and counseling services to her clients. She has extensive litigation experience in intellectual property matters in Federal Court and before the Trademark Trial and Appeal Board of the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, including trying cases before a jury and arguing appeals before the T.T.A.B. and the Federal and Second Circuit Courts of Appeals. She is also experienced in advertising and packaging review, pre-publication review, licensing and due diligence for corporate matters. Ms. Benjamin is actively involved in the Intellectual Property Law Section of the American Bar Association, the New York Intellectual Property Law Association, the American Intellectual Property Law Association, the Bar Association of the City of New York and the International Trademark Association, where she has held various positions including Chair, Division II (Trademarks), Division VIII (CLE Programs) and Council member of the ABA IPL Section and Chair, Trademark Committee and CLE Committee of the NYIPLA. Ms Benjamin frequently speaks and writes on intellectual property issues and has been published in the National Law Journal, the Licensing Journal, Metropolitan Corporate Counsel, Bright Ideas and Euro-Watch. On behalf of the American Intellectual Property law Association, she authored an amicus brief filed with the U.S. Supreme Court in Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer Studios, Inc. v. Grokster, Ltd. Ms. Benjamin was named as a New York Super Lawyer in 2010 and 2006 and is a member of Who's Who.

Dr. Norman Lifshutz

Dr. Norman Lifshutz started his chemical engineering career as a research scientist for Uniroyal Inc., where he managed a product development group responsible for ongoing research with fiber to rubber adhesion. Dr. Lifshutz was successful in the development of numerous adhesive systems for use in tires, conveyor belts, V-belts, hoses, vinyl coated fabrics and footwear Dr. Lifshutz also assisted in the establishment of a biomechanics laboratory for the study of sport shoe performance as well as an adhesive assembly process for the manufacture of footwear. Dr. Lifshutz was responsible for product improvement and development, process improvement and development, and customer technical service at a specialty paper and nonwoven fabric manufacturing operation. He established the operating parameters of a new melt¬blowing process, and managed development of a basic product line. Dr. Lifshutz also managed the development of processes for producing multilayered wetlaid papers in a single pass on Fourdrinier, inclined wire, and rotoformer paper machines. He developed computational models of the paper forming process on rotoformer and inclined wire paper machines, and the multipass flat sheet hydraulic filtration test. Marc Whipple

Marc Whipple received a Bachelor of Science degree in Physics and Mathematics from Drake University in 1992, and a Juris Doctor degree from UIC John Marshall Law School (then The John Marshall Law School) in 1995. Mr. Whipple is admitted to the Bar in Illinois and is registered to practice before the United States Patent and Trademark Office. Mr. Whipple worked as General Counsel as well as COO/CIO to Meyer/Glass Design, an invention studio descended from legendary toy and game innovation firm Marvin Glass & Associates. While at Meyer/Glass, Mr. Whipple was also part of creating Meyer/Glass Interactive, a subsidiary that developed PC and Console versions of classic toy and game properties like Battleship, Axis & Allies, and Missile Command. After his work at Meyer/Glass, he became General Counsel of Incredible Technologies, Inc., and helped it take its first steps into regulated casino gaming as well as providing legal support for its famous GOLDEN TEE video golf worldwide tournament network. After nearly two decades as an in-house counsel, Mr. Whipple then entered into private legal and business consulting practice, providing experienced support for patent, trademark, copyright, and technology issues as well as advising creatives at every level from startup to established studio. His clients have included such diverse sectors as the Federal Home Loan Bank of Chicago, trucking and logistics companies, and innovators in mechanical, electronic, and software invention. Mr. Whipple is a member of the Illinois State Bar Association and a former committee head for the Chicago Intellectual Property Law Association. He is also a member of the International Game Developers Association Legal SIG and has spoken at events for the Esports Bar Association. He gives presentations on the law of creativity at conventions and conferences around the country.

Martin P. Hoffman

Martin P. Hoffman, received a B.S in Mechanical Engineering from the New Jersey Institute of Technology and a J.D. from the George Washington University Law School. Mr. Hoffman is admitted to practice law in Virginia, the District of Columbia and before the United States Patent and Trademark Office. Prior to joining Stein IP LLC, Mr. Hoffman was a founding member of Hoffman, Wasson & Gitler, P.C. Mr. Hoffman has previously worked as a Patent Examiner examining applications for mechanical and electromechanical devices and fluidic control systems. Mr. Hoffman's practice focuses on all areas of intellectual property law including patent and trademark prosecution and protection, as well as opinions and client counseling. Mr. Hoffman has been a lecturer on a number of intellectual property related subjects, including the ALI/ABA Patent Law Seminar (November, 1990); ALI/ABA Trademark Law Seminars (April 1994) & (April 2002), Hungarian Patent Law Association (MIE) (Nov. 1998).
