Alim Bhanji - CEO, COO

Alim serves as the Group Operations Director and is responsible for Weld-Con's commercial affairs and regional growth strategy for the group. Prior to joining Weld-Con in 2012, Alim worked at MAN Diesel & Turbo in Augsburg, Germany in the Power Plant Sales Division as a Sales Engineer. Before this he worked with Equinox in London, UK as a Renewable's Energy Engineer designing and implementing small scale Hydro and Solar Power plants in Rwanda and Northern Tanzania. Alim received both a Bachelor's and Master's in Mechanical Engineering from Imperial College London, UK and in 2020 received his degree in Business Analytics, Economics and Accounting from Harvard Business School.

Kagume M. Chiuri

Kagume M. Chiuri has 9 years' experience managing projects and key partnerships with several local and international organizations in the energy and extractive industry in East Africa. He joins us from a regional energy consulting firm where he worked as a partner working with several clients including the World Bank, International Finance Corporation and other regional players in the energy market.

Tielman Engelbrecht

Tielman Serves as the Group Regional General Manager and is responsible for the running of all Weld-Con activities in East & Central Africa. Tielman brings on board a wealth of technical knowledge from his past roles and spearheads all projects from execution up to commissioning stages. Prior to Joining Weld-Con in 2018, Tielman held the position of Senior Construction Manager for Worley Parsons South Africa. During his time with Worley Parsons, Tielman worked on a number of key projects such as the EPC 100MW $860m Solar Power Plan in the Northern Cape, South Africa. Tielman also worked on the 550km 24" Gas Pipeline from Mtwara to Dar es Salaam in Tanzania as Construction Manager. Outside of Africa, Tielman served as Construction Manager for the $6.5Bn EPC SAR-DIPSAR-X 5000 barrel per day oil refinery in Singapore. Tielman has attended in Project Management Professional (PMP) training.

Zaher Bhanji - Chairman

Zaher serves as the Chief Executive Officer for the Weld-Con Group of Companies and is responsible for strategic planning, technology implementation and client relations. Before founding Weld-Con in 1986, Zaher was a pipeline engineer at Chevron working in the Alberta Oil Fields. Zaher then went on to work for Chevron in North Sudan in the early 1980's. He has more than 30 years of experience in the construction industry - focused on oil, gas and petroleum infrastructure. Zaher received a Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Alberta, Canada.
