We are a general engineering workshop undertaking all types of engineering work specialising in CNC machining, precision manual machining, site maintenance, plant and equipment diagnostics and support for a wide range of industrial engineering needs... Our customer had a large rotary valve. The shaft had broken where it had been welded onto the vanes. The most likely cause of failure was weld stress on the shaft at the point it had been welded to the vanes. Simply cutting out the old shaft and welding a new one was not a viable option.
