Alex is the Director of Counseling at Emory & Henry College. Originally from East Tennessee, Alex is an alumnus of Emory & Henry College. He holds a Masters in Social Work from the University of Denver, and a certificate in Animal Assisted Social Work. As a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, Alex has more than 8 years of experience assisting individuals who are struggling with anxiety, depression, addiction, and trauma. He offers a variety of treatment modalities, including EMDR and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and utilizes evidence-based techniques to help his clients achieve their therapeutic goals.

Angelika has been an occupational therapist for over 20 years, working primarily in Pediatrics. She obtained her initial degree in South Africa and came to the US in 1995, by way of the West Coast of Florida, where her initial experience was in Geriatrics. After the birth of her two children, she transitioned to Pediatrics, where she focused on school-based and outpatient settings. In 2006, Angelika moved to the Atlanta area where she began her own therapy company. More recently, Angelika's interests have turned toward occupational justice and health disparity issues. While obtaining her doctorate in occupational therapy she began to volunteer her clinical skills in a program serving resettled refugees in Clarkston, GA., which deepened her interest in health promotion for all population groups.
Angelika is the Capstone Coordinator and a Clinical Assistant Professor in the OTD program.

Area Smyth County high school students will have a new affordable option in the region to become teachers thanks to a new Teachers for Tomorrow Program and Smyth County Promise unveiled at a signing ceremony with education leaders from Emory & Henry College, Virginia Highlands Community College and Wytheville Community College. Representatives from each of the community stakeholders attended the ceremony to commemorate the signing of the Memorandum of Understanding at Oak Point Elementary School in Marion on Wednesday, February 7.

Bonnie Binkley is a certified IRB Professional with 15 years of experience in human subjects research (direct human subject protection and the conduct social and behavioral research combined). She has enjoyed going back and forth between being on a research compliance team and being part of a research team. Those experiences have taught her a lot about the the everyday challenges faced in the conduct of research in addition to the to the challenges of supporting a research community.

Amy Sorensen is an Assistant Professor of Sociology. She also serves as Co-Chair of the Sociology Department and as the Coordinator of Academic Diversity Initiatives for the college.
A native of Southwest Virginia, Dr. Sorensen's areas of specialization include complex inequalities, health/disability, and sociology of the body. Her passion for interdisciplinary scholarship and social justice is evident in her research and her participation in the Women's and Gender Studies program.

Miss Edith Waterhouse, daughter of President Richard Waterhouse, was the first woman graduate of Emory & Henry in 1907. She continued on to become the college's first female faculty member as well.

Scott has been a member of the staff here at Emory & Henry for 18 yrs. He was hired in 2006 as a Support Specialist, providing classroom technology support for equipment purchased under a Title III grant. He also coordinated classroom technology installations for new classrooms and existing classrooms in need of upgrades. During this time he also provided audio visual support for college events and for 2 yrs was a producer and programmer for the college radio station, WEHC. For his efforts with the station, he received the Rita and Craig Sutherland Communications award in 2009. After receiving his Master's degree for Instructional Technology from Virginia Tech in December of 2014, Scott has been an administrator of our Moodle LMS and is currently the Instructional Technologist in our Center for Online Learning and Professional Studies. He has recently completed QM courses in Designing an Online Course and becoming a Peer Reviewer for Online Courses.
