Dr Nicky Evans

Nicky completed her Bachelor of Biomedical Science at Monash University then moved to Adelaide to complete her Doctor of Medicine at Flinders University. She worked at Eastern Health for four years and is now in her first year of Advanced Training in General and Acute Care Medicine at Alfred Health. Nicky is enjoying managing patients with a variety of heart problems and improving her skills in echocardiography and ECGs. Her favourite thing to do in Mildura was running along the Murray, but now that the path has flooded she is sticking to the gym! She loves the relaxed lifestyle and friendly people here.

Dr Riley Batchelor

Riley is our current registrar on secondment from The Alfred Hospital. He completed his MBBS with honours at Monash University in 2016, went on to complete Basic Physician Training at Alfred Health. Riley's interests include all aspects of General Cardiology, with interests that extend to Stroke Neurology. He has worked previously at Mildura Base Hospital as a medical registrar and is hoping to return to Mildura as a cardiologist on completion of his specialty training. Riley is involved in clinical education and teaches medical students on a twice-weekly basis. Outside of work, he has been enjoying the fresh air here in Mildura and runs on along the Murray. Over the weekends he has been enjoying having a hit at the driving range and the local golf courses. He is a passionate Collingwood supporter, but has been a little disheartened by their performance this year!

Dr Sylvia Ye

Sylvia completed her undergraduate training in Biomedicine at The University of Melbourne before undertaking an MBBS at Deakin University. After working a year in Shepparton, she completed her Basic Physician Training at Eastern Health. She is now an Advanced Trainee in General and Acute Care Medicine and is hoping to combine this in the future with Cardiology training to provide holistic cardiovascular care. Outside of work, Sylvia enjoys reading, hiking and looking after her 30+ indoor plants. She is a miserable cook so is looking forward to sampling all of the restaurants she has been recommended in Mildura.

Dr. Chris Lim

Chris is a Consultant Interventional Cardiologist. After completing his training in Melbourne he completed a further 3 year post-graduate fellowship in Oxford, UK, and specialises in complex percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI). He has authored numerous international publications, and has pioneered the use of the latest techniques including Radial Artery Access angiography and intervention, intracoronary imaging with OCT and IVUS, and using the Pressure Wire (measuring FFR - Fractional Flow Reserve) to assess individual coronary stenoses for ischaemia. He is happy to see all public and privately insured patients and aims to provide holistic and excellent care for all his patients.

Dr. John Morgan

Dr John Morgan is a graduate of Monash University and completed his medical and cardiology training at the Royal Melbourne Hospital including 18 months of intensive care in addition to 3 years of cardiology training. He completed a 2 year fellowship in echocardiography at RMH and then spent a further 2 years at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston, USA, as an echocardiography fellow specialising in all forms of echocardiography including transthoracic, trans-oesopheageal and stress echocardiography including both research and clinical components. Dr Morgan is currently a visiting medical officer and part of the Department of Cardiology at the Royal Melbourne Hospital. He also has an appointment at Melbourne Private Hospital and the Epworth Hospital. Dr Morgan has private practice in North Melbourne and visits Mildura and Seymour in regional Victoria monthly.

Dr. Manoj N. Obeyesekere

Dr. Obeyesekere is a clinical expert in diagnosis and management of all forms of cardiac arrhythmias and arrhythmic substrates. He has been well published for original research in many prolific scientific journals and is affiliated with several professional associations including the American Heart Association, The Royal College of Physicians of Australia, The Canadian Cardiovascular Society, The Heart Rhythm Society and the Cardiac Society of Australia and New Zealand. Dr Obeyesekere's clinical expertise is in diagnosis and management of all forms of cardiac arrhythmias and arrhythmic substrates, including simple (e.g; SVT, Atrial flutter etc) and complex (e.g; AF, VT etc) catheter ablation procedures and implantation of pacemakers, defibrillators and cardiac resynchronization therapy. Dr Obeyesekere received his MBBS from Monash University, Australia in December 2000. He specialised in cardiology in Melbourne (FRACP 2008) and sub-specialised in cardiac electrophysiology in Melbourne and Canada. He received his fellowship of the Heart Rhythm Society (FHRS 2014) in recognition of advance training, certification and prominence in the field of cardiac arrhythmias.

Dr. Matthew Brooks

Matthew completed his medical training at The University of Melbourne followed by specialist cardiology and interventional training at The Royal Melbourne Hospital. He undertook two further fellowships at The Edinburgh Heart Centre and Copenhagen University Hospital with a focus on complex percutaneous coronary intervention and structural heart disease intervention. He is a consultant cardiologist at The Royal Melbourne Hospital and also practices at Melbourne Private and John Fawkner Private Hospitals. His expertise is in complex percutaneous coronary artery intervention (including chronic total occlusions, left main PCI and rotational atherectomy) and structural heart disease intervention (including transcatheter aortic valve replacement and mitral valve repair/replacement, percutaneous left atrial appendage closure, device closure of interatrial defects, and paravalvular leak closure).

Dr. Mitra Shirazi

Dr Mitra Shirazi is a cardiologist with special interest in imaging cardiology (especially echocardiography including trans esophageal echo and stress echocardiography and cardiac MRI). Mitra completed her undergraduate medical study in Beheshti University of Medical Science in Tehran in 1995, with her internal medicine and cardiology training in hospitals affiliated with Beheshti University of Medical Science. She completed her thesis as a part of cardiology training in evaluation of association between serum Apolipoproteins (Apo A-1, Apo B) with severity of coronary artery disease. She achieved first ranking in 48 th cardiology National board examination in 2001. Then she immigrated to Australia and completed one year of physician training in Royal Adelaide Hospital and accomplished FRACP exam at same year in 2007. She was awarded her fellowship to the Royal Australasian College of Physician (FRACP) in 2009. She then traveled to Brisbane and worked in Princess Alexandra Hospital that is an excellent centre of echocardiography for one year in 2010 as a visiting consultant cardiologist with main focus in echocardiography and it gave her vast experiences in field of the echocardiography. On her return to the Adelaide in 2011, she joined to the department of cardiology at the Royal Adelaide Hospital. She has started her collaboration with Mildura Cardiology since 2011. Mitra has been involved with a number of research that have been conducted in cardiology department at the Royal Adelaide Hospital. She is currently doing part time master of philosophy with University of Queensland in the field of genetic, telomere length and cardiovascular disease.

Dr. Tim Baillie

Dr. Baillie is a board registered Cardiologist with specific interests in cardiac magnetic resonance imaging (CMR), echocardiography and pulmonary hypertension. Tim graduated from Monash University with a Bachelor's degree in Biomedical Science before undertaking graduate-entry medicine at Flinders University, Adelaide. He later studied Physician Training and Advanced Training in Cardiology at the Royal Adelaide Hospital. He then undertook a PhD in Medicine in the area of pulmonary arterial hypertension whilst working as a Pulmonary Hypertension Clinical Fellow. He then spent two and half years at Toronto General Hospital and University of Toronto as Clinical and Research Fellow in Pulmonary Hypertension whilst also undertaking a Fellowship in echocardiography. He is currently employed at the Royal Adelaide Hospital and Queen Elizabeth Hospital as a Cardiologist (Pulmonary Hypertension) and a Senior Clinical Lecturer at The University of Adelaide.
