Read Horn of Africa is a charitable non profit making organisation (Charitable ref.: 1098424) based in London but with support groups around the world. Their mission statement and motto ("Without education there is no light") reflects their belief that education for all has to form the basis of any development and progress. Their principal work has been the ongoing maintenance and development of the Bursaalax Education and Development Project in a rural area near the Ethiopian/Somali border principally through the co-ordination of fundraising through individual donations. Based around a school started from scratch, the project has also involved the physical improvement of facilities for residents and work to make those residents more aware of their civic responsibilities.
