Debs Quaile

Role Business Manager Qualifications R.G.N Debs Quaile has been employed as a practice manager since 1992 in the speciality of orthopaedic & spinal services. Debs Quaile trained as a registered general nurse qualifying in 1978. She gained nursing experience in a number of areas including intensive care and then Ward Sister to a busy 34-bedded surgical unit before moving into the role of practice manager. She is responsible for the day to day running of the practice, financial matters and management of secretarial staff. Mrs Quaile has been employed as a practice manager since 1992 in the speciality of orthopaedic & spinal services.

Dr Anne Waters

Dr Waters studied Clinical Psychology and the University of Leeds, qualifying in 1993. Initially specialising in Adult Mental Health, she went on to develop a special interest in Post Traumatic Stress Disorder and Health Psychology. This latter interest led to her first consultant appointment at St Mary's Hospital, Portsmouth in 2004. Following six years specialising in Pain Medicine at St Mary's, she joined the Basingstoke and North Hampshire NHS Foundation Trust, Chronic Pain Management team in January 2010. Dr Waters' role in the pain team includes service development and staff training and education in the psychological and emotional aspects of living with chronic pain. She provides direct clinical work with people who live with chronic pain, (both individual and group work), focussing on helping patients with emotional distress and adjustment to living with pain, and helping them to improve their quality of life through re-engaging with meaningful and important activities and relationships. Guiding and educating people in aspects of self-management is an integral part of this work. Dr Waters holds a full time NHS appointment with the BNHH. She is also an Honorary Lecturer at the University of Southampton, where she previously worked as a Clinical Tutor on the Doctoral Programme in Clinical Psychology. She is a member of the British Psychological Society, the Health Professions Council, the British Association of Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapists and the British Pain Society. She delivers regular training workshops for medical and allied health professions and interested members of the public. She is also involved in research into the psychological, emotional and adjustment aspects of living with chronic pain.

Dr Cristoph Seifert

Role Consultant in Pain Management Qualifications F.R.C.A Dr Seifert studied medicine at the University of Cologne in Germany and qualified in 1992. He came to the UK in 1993 and undertook postgraduate training within the Wessex School of Anaesthesia, Critical Care and Pain Medicine. In 2001 he spent a year in America at the University of Michigan as a visiting professor. There he was closely involved in acute and chronic pain management as well as anaesthesia for vascular and transplant surgery. He was appointed as a Consultant in Pain Management & Anaesthesia at the North Hampshire Hospital NHS Trust in Basingstoke in 2003. He re-developed the pain service at the trust for which he was given the prestigious national Pharmaceutical Care Award by the Royal Pharmaceutical Society in 2005. He has recently been appointed as the Clinical Director of the Department for Anaesthesia, Critical Care and Pain Medicine at the North Hampshire Hospital NHS Trust, where he holds a full-time NHS appointment. In addition he practises independently at The Hampshire Clinic in Old Basing. He is a member of the British Pain Society and the International Association for the Study of Pain (IASP). He runs regular training courses for GPs, medical students, allied health professionals and interested members of the public. He is involved in regular research relating to acute and chronic pain management.

Dr Declan Johnson

Role Consultant Neuro-Radiologist Qualifications MBCHB, MRCP Dr Declan Johnson was educated in Birmingham and obtained an honours degree in engineering before training medically at Birmingham University Medical School. He obtained MBChB in 1990. Postgraduate medical education led to MRCP (Member of the Royal College of Physicians) in 1993. He was appointed specialist Registrar in Radiology at The Northwick Park and St Marks Hospital Trust training scheme in 1994, gaining the FRCR (Fellow of the Royal College of Radiologists) in 1997. By this time he had begun subspecialty training in Neuroradiology at The Royal Free Hospital, The National Hospital Queen Square and Great Ormond Street Hospital. This continued during a year long research post at Atkinson Morley's Hospital, a specialist Neuroscience centre. He was appointed as a Consultant Neuroradiologist there in 2001. He now also provides expert opinion in Neuroradiology at Royal Surrey County Hospital in Guildford. Dr Johnson has written many scientific papers and presented work both nationally and internationally. His specialist interests are in all aspects of neurological imaging of the brain and spine and he is familiar with the latest techniques including vertebroplasty. He also performs cerebral and spinal interventional procedures particularly concerned with pain relief. Dr Johnson is able to provide routine and medico-legal second opinions on any aspect of imaging of the brain and spine.

Medical Director, Consultant Spinal & Orthopaedic Surgeon Andrew qualified from Charing Cross Hospital in 1978 and spent a number of years practising medicine in the Royal Navy. He completed his orthopaedic surgical training at Southampton General Hospital, in the UK.
