A.C. JONES TRUCKING

Art and Louis Jones started Jones Brothers Trucking in 1946. Their business consisted of trucking, fertilizer lime spreading, and dragline service. They started with a single axle dump truck, a lime spreading truck and a dragline mounted on army 6 x 6's. In the '50s the company added tandem dump trucks and began hauling Critic Feed in the Midwest. In 1964 it became Jones Trucking, with Art Jones owner. During the '60s the first conventional lift crane was purchased. Dozers and backhoes were added to do land conservation work. In 1971 the first hydraulic crane was purchased. In 1979 the business was incorporated into A.C. Jones Trucking, Inc. A.C. Jones, Jr. became manager in 1980. The trucking of coal became a major focus of the company in the mid-'80s. In the early 90's hydraulic cranes and rough terrain, cranes were added. The business today is quite different than it was in the early days.
