Carol Tran

Carol graduated from the Bachelor of Oral Health program at the University of Melbourne in 2009. She graduated as Dux of her cohort and was placed on the Dean's Honours list. Carol is an Oral Health Therapist with extensive clinical, teaching and research experience. She has completed her PhD on ‘Dental Implant Debridement methods' at the University of Queensland. During this time, she was awarded a Medical/Dental NHM&RC scholarship and held numerous Australian Dental Research Foundation grants. Prior to 2016, She was a Lecturer in the Dentistry and Oral Health programs at the University of Queensland, in which she was teaching clinical and theoretical knowledge to students enrolled in either programs. Carol is an active member in the Dental Hygienists' Association, she was a CPD committee member for DHAAQ and now serves as the Queensland Director for DHAA Ltd. She is also a member of IADR, ASP and a number of dental journals. Carol has worked across public, private, general and specialist practice in Victoria and Queensland for more than nine years. She has a special interested in the non-surgical management of periodontal and dental implant diseases. With more than eight years of clinical practice, she looks forward to caring for your oral health.

Dr Rod Marshall

Rod Marshall graduated from the University of Queensland (BDSc (Hons)) in 1988 and worked as a general dental practitioner before completing his Master of Dental Science (Perio) degree from UQ in 1992 which included an exchange to the University of Nebraska. He then worked as the Senior Registrar (Perio) at Westmead Hospital (Sydney) until returning to UQ in 1995 taking up a position of Lecturer and then Senior Lecturer in Periodontology. He commenced specialist private practice in 1998. Rod completed his Special Stream (Perio) Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Dental Surgeons in 2000 and is also an International Member of the American Academy of Periodontology. He has been made a fellow of the Academy of Dentistry International, The International College of Dentists and the Pierre Fauchard Academy. Rod has served as president of the ANZ division of the International Association for Dental Research (IADR), the Periodontal Research Group within the IADR and the Australian and New Zealand Academy of Periodontists (ANZAP). He has served on the federal executive of the Australian Society of Periodontology, and on the Board and Examinations Committee of the Periodontics division of the Royal Australasian College of Dental Surgeons as well as being an examiner in the General, Special Stream and Membership divisions of the RACDS. In addition to university teaching and lecturing extensively across Australia and internationally, Rod has authored over 30 papers in the international literature. He has supervised and co-supervised 34 students in higher degrees, mainly coursework students leading to specialist registration. He has acted as an examiner at all Australian and New Zealand universities with Masters and Doctorate degrees in Periodontology. He acts regularly as a referee for papers submitted to Australian Dental Journal, Australian Medical Journal, the Journal of Periodontal Research, the Journal of Clinical Periodontology, and Journal of the International Academy of Periodontology. He was chair of the scientific committee for the 2011 ADA Congress and a recipient of the ADA service Medallion. Now an adjunct Associate Professor at Griffith University, Rod maintains his full time specialist periodontal practice as part of BCPI.

Dr Ryan Lee

Ryan completed a Bachelor of Dentistry from the University of Sydney and his specialist training in Periodontology at the Eastman Dental Institute, University College London, which is regarded as one of the most prestigious postgraduate dental education centres in Europe. Ryan was awarded a Master of Clinical Dentistry (Periodontology) with Distinction and a Certificate in Periodontology by the European Federation of Periodontology. Upon his return from London, Ryan joined Griffith University, taking up a position of Lecturer in Periodontology and Implant Dentistry. In 2017, Ryan moved to the University of Queensland as a Senior Lecturer in Periodontology and he has been recently appointed as a Discipline Lead & Director of Postgraduate Specialist Training Programme in Periodontology. Ryan combines the positions with his part time specialist periodontic practice at BCPI since 2013. Ryan is conducting multiple pre-clinical and clinical research projects, collaborating with national and international universities and institutes. His main research interests are tissue regeneration, wound healing and diabetes. Ryan has published in high impact peer-reviewed international journals, and lectured nationally and internationally. Ryan is an executive member of professional societies (International Association of Dental Research and Australian Society of Periodontology). Ryan is a native Korean speaker.

Dr Yvonne Chang

Yvonne Chang graduated with BDSc (Hons) from the University of Melbourne and completed her specialist training from the University of Queensland with DClinDent ( Perio) in 2008. She was accepted as a fellow into the Royal Australasian College of Dental Surgeon in 2009. Yvonne commenced specialist private practice in periodontics and implant surgery since 2009 and has been actively involved in teaching at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. She was also an examiner for the Australian Dental Council from 2009-2013. Yvonne has been past president of the Australian Society of Periodontology (Qld) and a member of the Australasian Oessointegration Society. She is a native Mandarin speaker with a good understanding of Cantonese. Yvonne maintains her part time specialist periodontal practice at Brisbane City Periodontics and Implants with a special interest in general periodontics and implant surgery.

Dr. Lisetta Lam

Dr. Lisetta Lam graduated with a Bachelor of Dental Surgery and Bachelor of Science in Dentistry with First-class Honours from the University of Adelaide in 2005. She practiced general dentistry in Brisbane for several years before pursuing further study in Master of Dental Surgery in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery from the University of Hong Kong, achieving skills and experience in dentoalveolar and implant surgery and oral pathology. She has also published several articles in the Australian Dental Journal and Oral Oncology. After returning to Brisbane, Lisetta completed her specialist training in the field of Periodontology from the University of Queensland in 2018. She is currently a member of Australian and New Zealand Academy of Periodontists, Australian Society of Periodontist and International Team for Implantology.

Megan Cable

Megan graduated from the University of Queensland (UQ) in 2011 with a Bachelor of Oral Health. She was awarded the Dental Hygiene Association of Queensland prize for the Dux across all clinical and theoretical components of dental hygiene and therapy in her final year. Megan also received a research grant from the Australian Dental Research Foundation and was employed as an oral health tutor for the UQ Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders Study Unit. Since graduation Megan has worked in general private practice and in research at the UQ Dental School. She has also travelled to Vanuatu on numerous occasions and volunteered as an oral health therapist. Megan has been involved professionally with BCPI since 2006 and with her 30 years' experience in the dental industry she is excited to be able to provide supportive periodontal therapy, education and implant maintenance to our patient base.

Saso Ivanovski

Professor Saso Ivanovski established Brisbane City Periodontics and Implants (BCPI) with Dr Ken Nixon (now retired) in 2006. He works at BCPI on a part time basis, and combines this with his position as Professor of Periodontology at the University of Queensland, where he is program director for the specialist training program in Periodontics. He is also the Director of the Centre for Oral Regeneration, Reconstruction and Rehabilitation (COR3). Saso graduated with BDSc (Honours) from the University of Queensland School of Dentsitry in 1993. He subsequently completed a BDentSt research degree in 1995, following which he was awarded a National Health and Medical Research (NH&MRC) postgraduate scholarship and commenced a PhD which was completed in 2000. This was followed by specialist training leading to the award of an MDSc in Periodontology in 2002. During his studies, Saso worked in private practice, initially as a dentist (1994-2002), and subsequently as a specialist periodontist. Saso was a NH&MRC postdoctoral fellow and a Senior Lecturer at the University of Queensland from 2003 to 2006. During this period, he was awarded a fellowship by the International Team for Implantology (ITI) and spent a year as a clinical research fellow at the Eastman Dental Institute in London. Upon his return from London in late 2004, Saso joined Dr Ken Nixon's practice and Brisbane City Periodontics and Implants was formally established in 2006. In 2006, Saso was appointed the inaugural Chair and Professor of Periodontology at the Griffith University School of Dentistry and Oral Health where he leads the specialist training program in periodontology. He served as Deputy Head of School Research and led the Regenerative Medicine Centre at the Griffith Health Institute, before moving back to the University of Queensland in 2017 Saso is a fellow of the International Team for Implantology, International College of Dentists and the Academy of Dentistry International, and has served as federal president of the Australasian Osseointegration Society (AOS) and the Australian Society of Periodontology (ASP). He is currently a boraf member of the Australian Dental Research Foundation (ADRF) and chair of the ADRF Research Advisory Committee. Saso has published over 200 papers and book chapters in the peer-reviewed international literature, has lectured extensively nationally and internationally and has been the recipient of numerous research grants and awards. He leads an internationally recognised research group with an interest in clinical implantology and periodontology, as well as the cellular and molecular aspects of osseointegration and periodontal regeneration.

Wendy Crowther-Cilento

Wendy graduated as a Dental Hygienist in 1991 and has worked in the areas of preventive care and Periodontal Disease within some of the more dynamic general dental practices and Specialist Practices in Queensland and South Australia. Wendy has been actively involved in the establishment and progression of hygienists in Queensland and has held positions on both the State and National Dental Hygienist Associations, being one of the founding members of the Qld DHAA. She is continually upgrading her knowledge by attending conferences and seminars pertinent to her expertise. With 20 years in the profession Wendy brings with her extensive experience in the area of preventive care for our patients, along with an enthusiasm for your dental health.
