Amanda B. Norton

Amanda Bryce Norton is a Washington attorney whose practice has involved many areas of federal regulatory law including antitrust, consumer protection, and health law. She is a graduate of Vassar College, George Washington University Law School, and the Johns Hopkins University School of Public Health. She is a member of the District of Columbia Bar, and is admitted to practice before the U.S. District Court and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia, and the United States Supreme Court. She was a partner in a Washington DC law firm before entering government service as Deputy Director of the Bureau of Consumer Protection at the Federal Trade Commission. Following her public health training, she served as Special Counsel for Health for the Chairman of the Federal Trade Commission, and as Chief Mediator and Ombudsman of the Food and Drug Administration. Ms. Norton has held academic appointments as adjunct faculty of the Johns Hopkins School of Public Health, where she taught postgraduate courses in public health and the law, and as Visiting Fellow of the Kennedy Institute for Ethics at Georgetown University. She has served on various DC Bar boards and committees. Ms. Norton has also been selected to be a mediator by the U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia. Her awards include the Delta Omega Public Health Honorary Society Membership, Johns Hopkins University School of Public Health Society of Alumni Award for Public Health Practice, the FDA Commissioner's Special Citation, the Award of Merit, and numerous Senior Executive Service awards.

Christina M. Drummond

Christina Drummond is a specialist in infectious diseases and public health. She trained at academic medical centers in Australia, the US, and UK as well as cross-trained in disaster management and disease control through the International Committee of the Red Cross, the World Health Organization, and the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Her professional interest is communicable disease control in disadvantaged populations leading to field experience in 24 countries and territories. Among her assignments, she served as Australian Red Cross medical team leader in Cambodia during the Khmer Rouge insurgency, International Federation of Red Cross medical coordinator in Zaire during the Rwandan genocide, International Rescue Committee physician in Macedonia and Albania during the Kosovo ethnic cleansing, WHO medical officer for tuberculosis in Indonesia during the Timor crisis, UNICEF-CDC technical advisor for Stop Polio in Sudan, CARE International health project manager in Sudan during the Darfur genocide, WHO public health consultant in the Maldives and in India after the Indian Ocean tsunami, and Medecins Sans Frontieres advisor for TB and other infectious diseases worldwide. Dr. Drummond has held clinical appointments in Australia at the Monash Medical Centre, and associate faculty appointments in the US at Johns Hopkins School of Public Health. She has served as a Rockefeller Foundation Bellagio Center Resident Scholar, member of the National Tuberculosis Advisory Committee to the Communicable Disease Network of Australia, and member of the Medecins Sans Frontieres Tuberculosis Club (international advisory group). Her awards include the Australian Red Cross Society Meritorious Service Medal, Australasian Society for Infectious Diseases Fellowship, Australian Government Certificate of Gratitude for contributions to developing countries, Malcolm Schonell Memorial Medal for contributions to humanitarian assistance, and Membership in the General Division of the Order of Australia.

David A. Bradt

David Bradt is a specialist in emergency medicine and public health. He trained at academic medical centers in the US, UK, and Australia as well as cross-trained in disaster management through the International Committee of the Red Cross, the World Health Organization, the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, and USAID's Office of US Foreign Disaster Assistance. His professional interest is disaster health services leading to disaster field experience in 25 countries and territories. Among his assignments, he served as International Federation of Red Cross medical coordinator in Zaire during the Rwandan genocide, International Rescue Committee physician in Macedonia and Albania during the Kosovo ethnic cleansing, WHO health coordinator in India after the Gujarat earthquake, WHO medical coordinator in Indonesia after the Indian Ocean tsunami, WHO emergency coordinator in Tunisia during the Libyan civil war, USAID\OFDA senior field officer in Sudan during the Darfur genocide, USAID\OFDA health officer in Indonesia after the Javanese earthquake, USAID\OFDA regional advisor in Southern Africa during the El Nino drought, and American Red Cross medical consultant at US disasters including Hurricane Andrew, Supertyphoon Paka, and World Trade Center terrorism. His awards include the Johns Hopkins Emergency Medicine Outstanding Faculty Award, Johns Hopkins University School of Public Health Society of Alumni Award for Public Health Practice, American Red Cross National Headquarters Volunteer Award in Disaster Services, WHO Regional Office for South-East Asia Certificate of Appreciation for emergency response, and International Federation for Emergency Medicine Humanitarian Award.

Jonathan Robinson

Jonathan Robinson is an emergency physician and police officer. He trained in emergency medicine and the police academy with cross-training in tactical law enforcement. His professional interests are prehospital care, high angle search and rescue, and tactical emergency medicine. Dr. Robinson is President and Chief Executive Officer of Emergency Room Specialists, SC, in Wisconsin, and EMS Chief and Medical Director for Elm Grove, Wisconsin. He serves as County Sheriff and SWAT team physician in the state. Among his prior positions, he served as Chief of Emergency Medicine at Aurora Sinai Medical Center in Milwaukee, and Chief of Emergency Medicine at the Heart Hospital of Milwaukee. Dr. Robinson consults on emergency, disaster, and law enforcement issues for municipal, state, and national organizations. He served on the Board of Directors of the American College of Emergency Physicians Wisconsin Chapter. He served on the Board of Governors of the American Heart Association Wisconsin Affiliate, and was Chairman of its Advanced Cardiac Life Support Program. He also served as Medical Advisor for the Milwaukee Fire Department's Heavy Urban Rescue Team, Disaster Medical Director for the City of Milwaukee and Mitchell International Airport, and Emergency Medical Services Medical Director for several municipalities. His awards include the American Heart Association's Professional Practice Award, American Heart Association's Extended Service Award, and Meritorious Service Medals from Wisconsin municipal and county police departments. He was nominated for the American College of Emergency Physicians "Emergency Physician of the Year".

Peter Galpin

Peter Galpin is a plastic and reconstructive surgeon. He trained initially as a US Special Forces medic, master parachutist, and weapons expert, and completed four years of active duty service. During his tour of combat duty in Vietnam, he served as one of two Special Forces medics tasked with organizing and implementing the medical evacuation of Saigon when the country fell in 1975. He was responsible for the evacuation of tens of thousands of displaced persons. After discharge from the military, he undertook premedical studies in the US when he was struck by a drunk driver and paralyzed. He spent over eight months in hospital. He resumed his studies, and went on to complete medical school, general surgical residency, plastic surgery residency, burn and reconstructive fellowship, and hand and microvascular fellowship. To date, Dr. Galpin is the only surgeon in the world to complete medical school and surgical training as a paraplegic. Dr. Galpin's professional interests are plastic and reconstructive surgery, and surgical care in developing countries. Domestically, he served as Chief of Staff of Maui Memorial Medical Center, Chair of the Department of Surgery at Maui Memorial Medical Center, Vice-President of the Hawaii Plastic Surgery Society, and Vice-President of the Hawaii Independent Physicians Association. Internationally, he served as trauma and plastic surgeon in Afghanistan, Laos, and Nepal. His civilian awards include the Maui County Commendation for services to medical care in the County, State of Hawaii Commendation for services to medical care in the State, and US Department of Health and Human Services Secretary's Highest Recognition Award for outstanding contributions to local, national, and international medical care.
