He also worked with a hospital management company before starting Premed at Birmingham Southern College. He received his medical degree from the University of Alabama School of Medicine, Tuscaloosa, Alabama in 1992. He completed his internal medicine residency (1992-1995) at Carraway Methodist Medical Center, Birmingham, Alabama.
