FOWLER ALLERGY - Key Persons

Laurie Fowler

Dr. Fowler is highly regarded for her work in both pediatric and adult allergy management and for her understanding of food allergies. Dr. Fowler has a firm belief that "whole body health" is the key to making people feel their best. This includes not only good allergy management, but also healthy nutrition, exercise, and limiting excess chemical exposures. In 1993, Dr. Fowler graduated from the University of Missouri School of Medicine. After finishing a residency in pediatrics, she became one of only two people in the country selected for an Allergy and Rhinology fellowship, sponsored by the American Academy of Otolaryngic Allergy (AAOA). After she completed her fellowship, she was given a dual appointment as an assistant professor in the Departments of Surgery and of Child Health. Dr. Fowler eventually took over the allergy clinic responsibilities full time and worked there several years before she left the university in December 2002. Fowler Allergy later opened in 2005. During her tenure at the University of Missouri, Dr. Fowler shared her expertise with colleagues, giving lectures at national meetings of the AAOA, as well as serving on the Board of Directors for the American In-Vitro Allergy and Immunology Society. In 2007, Dr. Fowler was the only physician appointed by the governor for the Blue Ribbon Panel on Autism in the state of Missouri. The panel spent that year listening to testimonies and gathering recommendations which have led to key policy changes in improving the care of individuals and families affected by autism.
