Alice Voss-Kantor

Alice was born in the Rhineland (West Germany), and grew up in Frankfurt/Main. While living in Switzerland, a career opportunity brought her to Chicago.

Angela Jöstlein

Angela founded GLSN in 2001 and served as the director until 2021. She was born in Berlin, Germany. Angela earned a degree in Social Work in München, and moved to the US with her family in 1970. Angela Jöstlein, founder and director of the German Language School of Naperville for over two decades retired from her position on May 15, 2021. She named Anne Becker as her successor. Mrs. Jöstlein founded the school in 2001 and was instrumental in the success of the school. Students, parents, and teachers are forever grateful for her dedication and her continuous insistence on quality to ensure the success of the school.

Holger Becker

Born and raised in Schwelm (NRW), Germany, Holger earned a degree in German philology and a PhD in linguistics and moved to the US through a job assignment in 1993. Born and raised in Schwelm (NRW), Germany, Holger earned a degree in German philology, history, philosophy and educational science as well as a PhD in linguistics from the University of Bochum, Germany. During his college years, Holger wrote articles for several German newspapers as a freelancer, worked as a text editor for an ad agency and taught introductory classes in German linguistics at the University of Dortmund. Before he recently retired, Holger had worked for a globally operating German chemical company since 1989, had come to the U.S. on a job assignment in 1993, and was involved in the nutritional supplement business for 30 years. Holger has been teaching Adult Conversation and Middle School B1 level classes at the GLSN since 2014.

Kathrin Schmid

Kathrin was born in Reutlingen, Germany and gained her Masters degree (MA) in communications and cultural anthropology at the University of Tübingen.

Svenja Albers-Prigandt

Svenja Albers-Prigandt Kindergarten, 7-year olds, Adults Svenja was born in Lübeck, Germany and raised in Itzehoe close to the North Sea, and moved to the Chicago suburbs in 2012.
