HAGERSVILLE VETERINARY SERVICES - Key Persons

Dr. Ed Gowan was born locally and attended Hagersville Secondary School. Dr. Ed graduated from the University of Guelph with a Bachelor of Science in 1978, he earned a Masters Degree in Reproductive Physiology in 1980 and graduated from the Ontario Veterinary College in 1983. Having volunteered at Hagersville Veterinary Services for many years he bought the then mixed animal practice in 1985. In 1997 he changed his career focus to the practice of small animal medicine and surgery exclusively. In 2015, Dr Ed sold his practice to his son Dr. Neil. Dr. Ed & Dr. Neil provides outpatient emergency care for clients of Hagersville Veterinary Services.

Dr. Neil Gowan was raised in Hagersville, where he formed an appreciation for small and friendly communities. He grew up immersed in Hagersville Veterinary Services and also cared for his family pets, which helped affirm his career choice. He graduated from the Ontario Veterinary College with a special interest in surgery and dentistry. After working for several years in Stoney Creek, he is pleased to have purchased Hagersville Veterinary Services from his father in 2015. He enjoys working along side his father and he takes great pleasure in the opportunity to get to know clients and their pets. Neil is kept busy with his children, Ethan and Hazel, and his pets. He owns 3 cats including a spirited teaching cat he befriended at university. His English Pointer and Vizslas keep him and his wife entertained, playing fetch and hiking through the region's nature trails. Neil enjoys outdoor activities including hiking, camping, kayaking, cycling, tennis and rock climbing.
