Anna Feiereisen - Chairman

Anna Feiereisen works at the Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) as desk officer for Somalia. She studied Political Science and French at the Albert-Ludwigs-University Freiburg until 2017. At the HIIK, Anna started as a researcher for conflicts in Kenya in 2016 and took over the regional coordination for the Horn of Africa in 2017. In April 2019 she became head of the methodology department.

Jason Franz

Jason Franz is a student of Political Science and East Asian Studies at the University of Heidelberg. From 2012 to 2013, he studied Public Management and International Relations at Tsinghua University in Beijing. Jasper Linke

Jasper Linke is a student of Political Science and Contemporary History at the University of Heidelberg since 2012. From 2014 to 2015 he made a study visit to Geneva University, Switzerland, focusing on Transnational History. Analyzing Sub-Saharan conflicts at the HIIK since the year 2012, he became part of the editorial board in 2013 and part of the department of methodology in 2014. Being a Head of the working group "Sub-Sahara Africa" since 2014 he assumed the position as Editor in Chief of the Conflict Barometer in April 2015.

Johannes Nickl

Johannes Nickl is studying law at the University of Heidelberg since 2011. In 2013/2014, he spent a semester at KU Leuven, Belgium. He joined the HIIK in 2012 as a researcher in the working group "Sub-Saharan Africa" and became a member of the Board of Directors in 2014, where was first head of communications and is now chairperson of the finance and law department since 2015.

Katharina Müller

Katharina Müller is studying Sociology in her Bachelor's at the University of Heidelberg. She joined the HIIK 2021 as "HR Consultant" and has worked out the tasks of the new board position for human resources together with the board, as well as supporting the Departments for Communication and Finance and Law. Since April 2022, she has been a member of the board and chairs the Department for Human Resources.

Katharina Valjak completed her B.A. in Political Science and her dual master's degree in Peace and Global Governance as well as International Relations. Currently, she works as an advisor for Eurasian affairs at the State Chancellery of North Rhine-Westphalia. She has been with the HIIK since 2013 as a researcher for conflicts in Myanmar. Between 2017 and 2020, she was in charge of conflicts in Southeast Asia (Thailand, Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia, Malaysia) as one of the Asia & Oceania regional heads. In May 2020, she became head of the methodology department.

International relations, as a sub-discipline of political sciences, is her main field of interest. Maximilian Orth - Chairman

Maximilian Orth studied political science and psychology in his bachelor's degree at the University of Heidelberg. Currently he's working for a consulting firm in Berlin. He has been with HIIK since 2017 as an editor for conflicts in Kazakhstan. In 2018, he became regional head for conflicts in Central Asia and India. Since May 2020 he has been a member of the board of directors and head of the Communications Committee.

Mayely Müller

Mayely Müller is a master student of Peace and Conflict Studies at Otto von Guericke University Magdeburg. She completed her Bachelor in Anthropology and Public Law at Heidelberg University. In November 2015, she joined the HIIK as a researcher for the working group "Asia and Oceania" which she was heading from 2017 to 2019. Since April 2018, she became a member of the board of directors and chairperson of the communication department.

Paul Dießelberg

Paul Dießelberg studies law and philosophy in Munich, where he focuses on international law and international conflict resolution, and previously studied international relations in Washington, D.C. In 2019, he became part of the HIIK West Africa and Sahel Regional Group, researching since then especially on conflicts in Mali, and took over the regional group leadership in early 2021. Since 2023, he has been a member of the board and leads the committee for content and editorial work as Co-Editor-in-Chief.

Rafael Uribe-Neira

Rafael Uribe-Neira was elected as head of the Data Management Department and Co-Editor-in-Chief in Spring 2023. He joined the HIIK monitoring conflict in Mexico and the U.S in 2020. In 2022, he assumed the position of Regional Group Leader for Brazil, Venezuela and the Caribbean. Rafael studied German as foreign language (B.A.) at the Universidad Nacional de Colombia and M.A. Peace and Conflict Studies at the Otto-von-Guericke University Magdeburg. Currently, he is enrolled at the M.A. Peace and Security Studies at the Institute for Peace Research and Security Policy at the University of Hamburg. His professional interests lie in the field of Security Sector Reform (SSR), maritime security and post-conflict peace building.

Ronja Gottschling

She is currently doing a Master's in international relations at King's College London. She joined the HIIK in 2020 and has been responsible for the conflicts in Haiti from 2020-2022. Since April 2022, she has been a member of the board and Head of the IT Department and starting this year a regional group leader in the region of the Americas

Sebastian Sieber

Sebastian Sieber studied Political Science, Sociology, and Conflict Studies at the Universities of Heidelberg and Augsburg since 2009. He joined the HIIK in 2011 as a researcher in the working group "Sub-Saharan Africa", which he is heading since 2016. The same year he became chairperson of the finance and law department.

Simeon Heimburg

Simeon Heimburg is a student of International Studies/Peace and Conflict Studies at the University of Frankfurt and joined HIIK in 2021. After one year as a researcher on conflicts on the Maldives and Papua New Guinea, he became regional head in the WANA region for the countries of Egypt, Israel, Jordan, Lebanon, and Palestine. Since 2023, he has been a member of the Board of Directors and chairs the Finance and Legal Committee.

Stella Wancke

Stella Wancke received her bachelor's degree in American Studies from Heidelberg University, Germany in 2010 and studied abroad at Heidelberg University, OH, USA. Sven Eckstein is a student of Economics at the University of Heidelberg and working for the HIIK since 2012. Currently he is attending Arizona State University in Tempe, Arizona and is a researcher of the working group "Conflicts in Sub-Saharan Africa". He became a Member of the Board of Directors in 2014 and is the chairperson of the finance and law department.
