MILWAUKEE CHESS FOUNDATION

Throughout its more than 50 years of history, the Milwaukee Chess Foundation has been dedicated to bringing the best of chess to Wisconsin. Whether it is through tournaments like the Western Open (whose past participants have included names like Pal Benko, Arthur Bisguier, Robert Byrne, Roman Dzindzichashvili and Arturo Pomar, just to name a few) or through lectures and exhibitions given by players from around the world, the Milwaukee Chess Foundation is committed to celebrating Milwaukee's great chess heritage while seeking to extend it wherever we can... Among our founders were Arpad Elo, creator of the rating system in use by FIDE today, and Scott Kittsley, long time Wisconsin chess patron. Our board members have included Fred Cramer and Marshall Rohland (past presidents of the USCF) along with Pearl Mann (first female International Arbiter in FIDE). Current board members are Arlen Walker, Larry Kress, Brian Brzezinski, Bill Williams and Jack Creed... We are a non-profit..
