QAADJUSTING - Key Persons
Elaine's insurance career started in 1994 when she accepted an Administrative Assistant position with a national adjusting firm. Seeing opportunity and noting her inquisitive personality she accepted the challenge to be educated and to observe. She redirected her ambition to take on the challenge of being an adjuster in 1998. Employer mentoring and training were supplemented by Insurance Institute courses leading to her CIP in 2003, scoping training at Vale Tech, and CRM studies leading to designation in 2007.
Elaine though recognized her aptitude for research and information gathering, analysis, assessment and detail documentation made her a natural fit with liability claim adjusting. She developed proficiency in the investigation of casualty situations and a keen sense of potential liability exposure, litigation requirements and the need to always consider potential subrogation. Her experience grew as she handled general liability, employment practise, personal injury and professional liability yet still accepting property, auto and cargo claims. She developed multi lines claims experience including Multi-Provincial settings as she was control adjuster for a national auto dealership program
The newest addition to the QA team, Mike Lazaruk, joins us after having spent the last 4 years with a national P&C insurer working on the property side, dealing with commercial and residential claims of varied size and complexity.
He began his insurance career after graduating from the University of Manitoba while earning a Bachelor of Commerce Degree focusing on actuarial math and finance. The insurance industry afforded him the opportunity to further develop his analytical and problem solving skills.
Mike has been exposed to a variety of property claims throughout his career. He has traveled in Western Canada assisting with catastrophe situations, holds his HAAG certification, and is fully versed in Xactimate. He has worked extensively in property estimate writing, having held the role of large loss estimator during previous employment.
A passion for learning has seen Mike progress through the initial CIP coursework and he continues to expand his knowledge base by attending insurance seminars that focus on topics such as condominium, liability, and legal matters.
Staying active is important to Mike and he achieves this by both playing and officiating amateur hockey during the winter months. He enjoys outdoor activities at the family cottage throughout the summer, especially paddle boarding, kayaking, and fishing.
