I grew up in Yorkshire in a house full of women. As a child I learnt to play both the piano and violin but preferred to write poetry and short plays. After graduating with a degree in French, and an amazing year teaching in the south of France, I emigrated to Australia for three years before returning to live and work in Luxembourg, where I worked for the European Commission. The following years took me to a further ten countries, all of them fascinating glimpses into other ways of living. I now live in Cornwall, within sight of the sea... I write both long and short fiction, and was short-listed for the Fish Flash Fiction prize in 2016, long-listed for the MsLexia Short Fiction prize in 2017 and both the Fish Short Memoir and Fish Flash prizes in 2018. In 2019 my work was highly-commended in the Manchester Short Fiction prize and in 2020 short-listed and published by the Dorothy Dunnett Society/HWA Short Story Competition, described as "…multiple themes of coming of age, tradition..
