MARCUSON - Key Persons
Alex is a former Insurance Partner at Deloitte with extensive experience advising domestic UK and overseas insurers, Lloyd's and London Market insurers, reinsurers and P&I Clubs. Since founding Marcuson Consulting in 2010, he has advised a range of insurers on reserving, Solvency II implementation, Internal Model validation, Part VII Transfers and M&A's.
After graduating from the University of Cambridge with a Bachelors in Mathematics, Alex joined Marcuson Consulting in September 2023. At the moment, he is studying towards an actuarial qualification.
Chris joined Marcuson Consulting in September 2022. Since then he has provided support with reserving and developing machine learning models in R and Python. Chris has a First Class Masters of Mathematics from the University of St Andrews and is currently studying towards an actuarial qualification.
Esmee was a Director at PwC until 2014 and has over 20 years post qualification experience. After leaving PwC she was heavily involved with setting up Flood Re where she was their interim Chief Actuary. She has wide ranging experience of both the domestic and commercial markets and has held signing certificates for both Ireland and Lloyd's. Her experience has included reserving, Internal Model Validation and major M&As both domestic and international. Esmee has a passion for developing win/win outcomes for complex client groups bringing often divergent stakeholder values together.
Howard is a nearly-qualified actuary who joined Marcuson Consulting in May 2015. Since then, he has provided assistance with capital model validation, reserving and Part VII transfers. Howard has a First Class degree in Mathematics and a Certificate in Business Studies from The Open University.
Jack is a student actuary who joined Marcuson Consulting Ltd in September 2021. He graduated from Durham University with a BSc Hons in Physics. Since starting at Marcuson Consulting Ltd, he has provided support in reserving for Part VII transfers, expert witness assignments and audits.
Joseph has over 20 years advising general insurers. Roles have included acting as Chief Actuary at Tokio Marine Global and consulting for KPMG. Since becoming an Affiliate with Marcuson Consulting in 2013, Joseph has been responsible for overseeing the development of the actuarial function and internal model for a Lloyd's managing agent.
After graduating from the University of St Andrews with a First Class Masters in Mathematics, Since starting at Marcuson Consulting Ltd in July 2020, José has provided support in reserving for Part VII transfers and has been seconded to a Lloyd's managing agent. He also is familiar with SII Standard Formula calculations and has participated internal research and development projects. At the moment, he is studying towards an actuarial qualification.
Since joining Marcuson Consulting in 2016, Kirsty has provided support in various projects, including pricing assistance for a Lloyd's Syndicate and Part VII Transfers, and qualified in 2019. Kirsty has a Masters in Actuarial Science from Cass Business School and a First Class degree in MORSE from Warwick University.
Joining Marcuson Consulting in 2020, Melanie is responsible for business operations as well as driving marketing and business development strategy. She is a graduate of engineering and industrial design from Massey University in New Zealand and has a diverse background of experience in industries ranging from international rail, managing infrastructure projects for Eurostar UK, to corporate and retail banking, delivering customer strategy initiatives for NatWest and the Royal Bank of Scotland
Miriam is a senior actuary with close to 20 years of actuarial consulting experience. Since joining Marcuson Consulting in 2013, she has delivered a variety of capital and reserving projects in General Insurance, including Internal Model Validations, deep dive reserve reviews, M&A transaction support and audit support. She has significant experience in Part VII transfer projects and expert witness projects, and was approved by the PRA to act as independent expert for a cross-border Part VII transfer which completed in 2022.
Steven has over 10 years post-qualification experience, working for Markel International and LCP on a range of reserving and capital modeling projects, before joining Marcuson Consulting in 2016. Steven has a First Class degree and a DPhil in Mathematics from Oxford University.
Terry worked in pricing and reserving teams at AXA and Ace, prior to joining Marcuson Consulting in 2015. Since joining, he has managed and supported Part VII Transfers (involving live and run-off portfolios, as well as complex run-off liabilities), as well as provided actuarial assistance in London Market insurer audits, several M&A due diligence reviews and capital modelling validation assignments.
